I come asking for help

I come to the brilliant creative minds inhabiting this forum asking for their assistance.  As usual, I have projects that I have constructed but are left naked. When it comes to painting a project I always bog down. I am at a loss for an idea on how to finish this one project in particular.
I was thinking of a futuristic air racing scenario. Any thoughts on what I could do with this bird?

Anything that will get me off the dime will be greatly appreciated.

If you painting bogs you down and at a loss of ideas, just do something simple. It kind of has a Nubian Royal Starship feeling or a mini SR-71 look.

That is so wicked cool it would look good no matter what you did with it. But racing would not be my first choice, too mundane for such a beauty.

if You're going for Racing Colors, try Either Testor's British Racging Green or maybe use Testor's Sapphire Blue for Your Racer. hope these Ideas help. Dan

While you wouldn't get the liquid chrome/mercury droplet look ILM achieved with CGI you could go a natural metal finish using car paint.

This is 4 different shades of silver from the motor parts shop cleared with acrylic clear also from a rattle can.  The anodised red look is Tamiya clear red acrylic brushed on over the clear.
The trick is to make sure your silvers are sufficiently different in shade.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I can't help, but this aircraft rather reminds me of this...?

All good ideas, I knew you guys would come through.
The natural metal car finish sounds interesting.

I'd suggest some sponsorship.  You can use sheets from car models, or create your own names using generic lettering sheets for serials, codes etc.  For logos, mix and match unit markings/national markings/anything that looks suitable from your spare decal stash.

Back when I was gaming, I played several of the Wipeout series.  This was a futuristic racing game with anti-grav craft and had quite a few liveries that might act as inspiration:

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Good suggestion - you also get decal sheets for individualized slot cars, too, there's a vast range of options.

Luft '46?

Have to say I`m looking at this and thinking the same. It looks very much a Luft 46 design but perhaps it should have more a Luft 52 designation instead?

To do the racing theme I would have to invest in some sponsor decals. Maybe an 86 year old Danica Patrick still racing for Go Daddy.

World air speed record contender, late '50s? Shiny (either natural polished metal, or a bold colour), with "factory" markings or full-colour national markings.

Or go completely the other way, and rat-rod it. Tarnished, oxidised metal finish (or worn and chipped paint), with tattered and patchy markings and the odd little dent. But with a name and nose art, carefully maintained, and a string of "winner" markings (little medal or trophy symbols?) similar to kill markings down the nose. Think battered X-Wing or similar.

Seriously cool shape, in any case - looking forward to seeing what you decide on!

The easy answer is 'whatever you want !'

If it were up to me, I'd go military, as in WWII '46.

But nevermind that....what I want to know is, what's going on with that Voodoo in th background !? !!
