Hi Andy

Try the Hobby and Model centre on Hulton Lane off Wigan Road as they are a good source of model tolls, paints, etc, although their model kits are actually upstairs.

Halfords primer is good although you can get the Tamiya and Humbrol primers from Bolton Model Mart or Hobbycraft.

You basically need to put your own photos on Photobucket or something similar and then link using the insert image icon when doing your post

Welcome on board btw.

Cheers

Interesting pic that. It was taken AFTER the Wall came down as the traffic in West Berlin couldn't drive that close to the Brandenburg Gate when the Wall was there. There isn't sign of the Wall anywhere apart from the sandy line top left which is the top of the Wall's foundations.

Which begs the question 'Did BRIXMIS still exist after Nov 1989, and if so, why?'

I rode round on top of that line of foundations to where Checkpoint Charlie used to be on Easter Sunday 1990 on my bike, after riding through the Gate on the first day that it was open to bikes. :)

[Later] Ah yes, I just read the BRIXMIS site and it says it kept going until October 1990.

Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

Ah BRIXMIS, I remember reading about the whole operation. It was a great excuse to have a look around at Soviet equipment. If i remember right, didnt they one time manage to steal an engine and radar from a Yak?

Also, just made a Photobucket account :D and just started painting undercarriage and seats of the Gnat (aswell as the pilot)

It's not as difficult as it looks honestly. The key is how you set up your Photobucket account. It has to be a public folder. Once that's done then Bob's your uncle and Madge is your aunt

thinking about the Sea Fury scheme it's probably too dated for the Gnat, I have no idea when they stopped using it, roughly what year are you thinking for it?

The demarcation line between the EDSG and the Sky got lower and lower as the shape of the planes changed from slim prop-jobs to tubby early jets. Then they changed the Sky to White at some point in the late 1950s. After that it varied: Sea Vixens got EDSG over White and stayed that way, but Buccaneers went from Anti-Flash White to EDSG over White to all-over EDSG.
