Quote from: jcf on September 08, 2025, 11:20:29 AMThe blue tail means it was assigned to the USS Enterprise post-1937.

USN Markings 1936-41

Is that blue? Looks rather black?  :o Would be appropriate for USS Enterprise pre-1937, or USS Wasp thereafter.
Nicely built/painted, but SO unlikely in many aspects... :D
Doh! Saw it as dark blue on my phone screen.
:-\
Yes, it's black therefore CV-7 USS Wasp which means the scheme is even more off. Wasp's fighter squadron was VF-7 (later changed to VF-72 and then back to VF-7 - USN squadron numbering and its back and forths can make your head hurt) never VF-6. Which means the model would need to be marked 7-F-1.
;D

Ah yes, that's how I understood the item I read. I still can't figure out that would work.

Shouldn't it have had the straight hood, not the bubble?  ;)

But a very nice model, regardless of the authenticity - or lack thereof - of the markings.

Quote from: Rheged on September 09, 2025, 09:59:06 AMI understand that Swordfish were occasionally pulled out of the air in WW2 onto RN aircraft carriers.

I've seen footage that would support that taken aboard a CAM ship in some very rough seas. Dad did say that on occaisions when he was serving in the BPF the deck would sometimes rise to meet the landing aircraft as it had got fed up waiting for it  ;D
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Hmmm, that'd have SOME recoil I'm sure!  :o

I don't think we can buy 1:1 scale model handguns in Australia, any more, but I'd really love to build that!   ;D

Over kill is often very understated .

Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Not so sure about that, 88mm reduced to 1/35 is only 2.5mm, in 1/16 it's still only 5.5mm (& at over $250 I'm NOT buying a 1/16 FlaK 36  :o  ).

A web, or wrist biter, on the other hand (so to speak), is much more likely!

IRL the Luger P08 is 222mm long, a 1/16 Flak 36 is 362mm long & a 1/35 Flak 36 is 166mm long.

There is a free-to-download printable Luger... if you only wanted part of the frame and the grips, maybe that would be ok?

Or you could work with MDF and a fret saw... ;-)

The air soft guns can be pretty detailed. I almost bought the Mauser broom handle one to make a Han Solo blaster.
This looks like something right out of Star Wars!
