I once opened a wardrobe and pointed at a stash of shoes. Apparently I was lucky to survive
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Been there, done that, lived to tell about.
It's kind of interesting to see how it's an international phenomenon.

Not with Monica, the quintessential tomboy. Never owned a handbag, no fancy shoes, no dresses/skirts, no make-up. Love her for it!

Ex-wife took over most of a double closet.  I had a bout a half-meter of space for my fancy clothes and uniforms.  SWMBO Mk2 is also doing a credible job of taking over the master closet; but this time around, most of my work and casual clothes can go in the dresser.

Oh, she allows you space there? You're doing well...  ;)

Its back down to about a half-meter.  But mainly being used for storage for a handful of old uniforms and some cosplay stuff.  The rest is in the closet of the office.

So BAU, then - at least it's consistent.

I am starting to get a little bit down over it. The gas bubble has not really reduced in size, which means that nothing much is happening. I believe that the tear is repairing since the operation, but that bubble is supposed to reduce as well, so only part of what should happen is happening. I am also finding that the longer this is taking, the harder I am finding it to do things. I am noticing the lack of vision on my left side more, and I am finding that I am a little more unbalanced on my feet at times too. Lack of visual cues is the problem. I noticed on Sunday, when visiting my mum, that it took me two attempts to hang my coat up, similar things are becoming more frequent in everyday life, and I don't like it!

Understandable.
Some of us take longer to recover from the same thing others breeze through with no trouble. :-\
Doesn't stop it being frustrating, though.
We sympathise and we're here when you need to vent/moan/rant.

Keep the faith Alastair

You might not notice the gas bubble reducing in size yet, but it is.  It's a slow process and there's nothing you can do to accelerate its reduction.  As Rick says, we all recover at different rates based on a whole variety of factors.  I was very concerned earlier this year when the post-op recovery rate in my left eye was noticeably slower than it had been in my right eye 3 years ago, and the medical advice was that recovery rates vary even between eyes in the same individual.

So please be patient with it - and with yourself.  Take more time and care to do the routine things that previously you'd have done instinctively and quickly, especially those things requiring spatial awareness and balance.  I know it's all very frustrating but taking it steady now and adjusting your expectations will help your recovery and long-term health.  <_<

A little medical update. Yesterday I received two letters from the NHS. The first was an appointment for something that I have never heard of, Scottish Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Screening Program, which apparantly as I reach sixty-five tomorrow, I am supposed to get. A fifteen minuite ultrasonic scan. The appointment is in the middle of the day on the first work day after my current sick line for my eye expires. Looks like I will be taking the day off, less two hours for a Hospital appointment. Just as well that today starts a new year's worth of holidays. The second letter is from Outpatients for Neurology saying that I have to contact them in forteen days from the date on the letter to arrange an appointment. The letter was dated the 24th, so I shall be phoning them on Monday to try and book the appointment for the afternoon of the 19thwhich is when I have the AAA appointment. I also have to phone the garage I go to, as I had a reminder that my car is nearing its MOT. It's all go on Monday for me!
