Just realised it didn't actually answer your question!  :banghead:
I'd say they may get there eventually if there's demand, it's that sort of market, but it's probably a little way off.

"Resin-printing" and FDM are not
competitive technologies, they are complimentary and entirely different. Each has its own pros and cons and it is not in any way
the same as Beta vs. VHS etc. The first uses a laser to cure the liquid resin into layers to form the object, the latter builds it up
from deposited layers of melted and extruded plastic.

Once cured the resin parts are not meltable with the solvent "cements" used for polystyrene, ABS and PVC. There's no need for
them to be if what is now a multi-part subassembly is printed as a single component, like the cockpit of the S-199 as discussed
in the Eduard announcement. Some of the filament materials used in FDM are solvent "glueable" but others are not.

Something to bear in mind in regards to this Eduard announcement about their hybrid kits, parts/components etc. like the cockpit and undercarriage bays are designed to fit with the injection moulded parts that make up the bulk of the new kit, they aren't "aftermarket"
parts and probably won't fit into an older kit of the same subject. It's also not the same as having a "Profi-pack" version of a regular
kit wherein less detailed injected moulded parts are replaced with resin and PE because those less detailed parts simply aren't going
to exist. There won't be a "basic" version of the kit.

They'll still need to be attached to the styrene parts of the kit, so that'd have to be with superglue etc.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

That's absolutely right Jon. You will be purchasing a package and it is highly unlikely the parts will fit an existing kit. It's an interesting concept and I for one will be interested to see where they go with it.  Hopefully we will see a 1/72 kit in the near future.

As an afterthought I wonder how the market (us) would react if this type of product had been announced by any other producer ? Eduard are probably one of the most trusted brands out there after all.

Nice bit of self depreciation in this month's SAM

Eduard have a month Bunny Club column and this always feature a cartoon featuring the rabbits, normaly aircraft related. Anyway this month's is of two of the rabbits looking at a helicopter, and the conversation is :-

Bunny 1 : What's that ?

Bunny 2 : That's an Ensign En-480

Bunny 1 : Eduard would never make a kit of that.

Bunny 2 : Exactly it's not a Bf 109 or P-51

 ;D  ;D

Gondor

I saw a nice little video on Facebook, of a set of wing moulds being made for an eduard 1/72 Spitfire V.

So, we can expect to see Eduard release an Ensign En-480 in the not-too-distant future, then?   ;)

I have just been flicking through the latest eduard magazine. The Me 109-K4 is due to be out in the spring of next year, and there is a 1/72 MiG 21R to be released as well. There are also lots of kits in 1/48 and 1/32, but they don't interest me  ;D

Tease.

All I require from Eduard is for them to reduce their 1/48 MiG 21 Bunny Fighter transfers to 1/72.

I suspect they would tell me to join their Bunny Fighter Club.
