Bf 109 Texas
« on: January 26, 2011, 06:08:02 pm »
Hi from italy, i'm Kruaxi, a not so good modeller...  :-\
First of all, excuse for my poor english.
I love the 'what if', this is a work in progress from the 'second civil american war'...  ;)

History:
During the second american civil war (1930-1941), NCSA (New confederate states of America) was helped by nazist Germany and fascist Italy.
Confederate pilots like a lot the new Bf109E in 1939, but germans sent them a few.
The Germans did not supply the building license, so the Americans built his own simplified version based on reverse engineering.
The CSA Bf 109 'Texas' had a fixed undercarriage, and a DB 601 copy, made by 'Stonewall Factory' from Texas (was Texans Pratt & Whitley), called 'SV 003' (Southern Vendetta 003).

The kit is an old Hawk, reissued by Testors. I love vintage...

Really a few pieces

Kit has empty internal and no undercarriage; scratchbuild it

I will do a little diorama. A confederate soldier, head from an Imex civil war box and body from a german soldier WW2

A confederate pilot too, an old WW1 pilot from Revell

After sanded fusolage, add wings with fixed undercarriage. Aircraft has open canopy and a wooden propeller also

Now, i'm studyng for an appropriate camo... Just received decals from USA, bought in EBay

Welcome.  Your English is a darn sight better than my Italian, so don't worry about it.   The kit looks amazing so far.  Great subject!

Welcome aboard  I like the idea of a fixed undercarriage- that should be interesting. Your factory name is a good one as well

Great idea.  And you're off to a good start.  Is it just me or does the figure in the brown coat remind anyone of "Porco Rosso"?

Wellcome to the club.
