This is one of my most recent builds, inspired by
Spinners' gorgeous "Strike Fighters" profiles of a similar machine. I'm using a wide-body version of the Skyraider instead of a single-seat machine, because a) I think the two-seater would be more flexible, and b) it's the only model I could find! Either way, it'll work. I'm going to be painting it in a similar scheme to the Argentine Skyhawks - medium grey over light grey - with the rudder in the full-colour flag marking as seen in Spinners' profile. It will be hauling a pair of drop tanks (thanks to sequoiaranger for these!) to give it the range to hit the Royal Navy task force, and a torpedo on the centreline will be the main weapon, with a pair of rocket pods on the outer pylons. Also, should I fit an AN/APS-4 radar pod, or would this be a pointless piece of equipment that late? Is there an alternative system that could conceivably be carried?
Anyway, here are the photos so far. The basic airframe is together, with some filling and sanding done. As you can see, I'm trying to improve the cockpit slightly - the kit is rather sparse in that department. I could get a resin set for it, but that would probably cost more than I paid for the model! I've added a centre control console, and replaced the seat stubs with something of more sensible size. I've also added masking tape seatbelts, to make things a little busier.
Anyway, thoughts and opinions are appreciated, as always.
