Starship HOG
« on: November 01, 2009, 04:03:58 pm »
Here's a little somethng I started on Thursday. The saucer section is made from two old model stand bases. The secondary hull is a nozzle from a hand vac and the engine pods are cigar tubes. The deflector dish and dome on the lower part of the saucer section are made from spare wheels and other "greeblies" that I added are from the spares box.

Here's how it looked before paint.

Here's how she looked after paint and decals. The entire model was brush-painted by hand with acrylics and the decals are from various Star Trek sheets, some of which are very very fragile. I also decided to jazz up the base by making a planet out of the pull tab from an orange juice carton and coating the "space base" with acrylic gloss medium.

This is a small model, only 7 inches or 18 cm. long.

Gentlemen, I present the U.S.S. HOG, NCC-585.

Here's a few more shots. As you may have noticed, the tips from rocket pods were used on the front of the engines. The last shot is the U.S.S. HOG leaving low orbit to continue on more inter-stellar adventures.

Excellent BdB.  Outstanding use of "junk". Very appropriate for this GB.

A real Star Trek JMN would say that your intercoolers are wrong for the era, etc. but I think this is a classic! It looks like a Star Trek ship and it's a brilliant use of spares!

I agree - if you told someone that was 40 quid's worth of rare resin, no one would bat an eyelid.

Wow, fantastic Bri!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.
