Apple Green was a wheel colour option. Interpretations of the colour on restored cars is all over the map with some looking like what's on the ICM box. Then there is the issue of lighting and perception of colour.
Same car, same photo shoot.

Jazz and Blues.

I have a mate with a Green '35 Ford Phaeton with Apple Green wheels and pinstripe.  People are always at him about why he painted the wheels, but they are stock.
It looks just like this one.

ICM have a 1/72 (yes, that does read 1/72) CH-54A Tarhe due for release 17.04.2026.
ICM like to break down their kits into prototypically individual components (or so it feels sometimes) hence 332 parts.  367x271mm.
I am feeling attracted to this.  zenrat industries heavy lift division could do with one.

I had the same feeling until I saw the price quoted at Hannants: 90 pounds....
And for just 20 pounds more, you have the 1/35 version.

Revell do one already, and OK, it's old, but it's a LOT cheaper.

I wonder if they'll do the Erickson version with the fire-fighting gear option.
Having had the chance to get up close and personal with one a couple of
times, the parts count isn't egregious. Everything is hanging out in the
open on the beastie and they probably could have moulded even more
parts.

The cheapest current listing on eBay is $42.50 and it goes up from there.
The more recent Revell-Germany release being priced higher than the old
Revell releases. Yeah, because new pulls from old moulds are so much
more desirable than those made when the mould was newer.

Same "logic" is applied to Hasegawa.  My "Box Art & Font" late 70's/80's collection was bought for an average of $10 when upwards of $40 is asked for the same moulds in new boxes.
OK, so in the old releases the transfers are toast, but in many cases the plastic is the first run.

And it's not as it there's a lack of aftermarket markings out there... :banghead:
In some cases the older mouldings are in... 'unique' colours, but that's what primer is for.

Still, if you can score the older ones cheaply, when someone wants to upgrade their collection to the latest mouldings/markings options, you're quids in.

I've still got an original US Revell one in The Loft, maybe it now counts as 'an investment'?

Nah, I'll build it just to spite the collectors.

[Later] Actually, building it and painting it in one of the ICM kit schemes would wind some people up, wouldn't it?  ;)

The CH-54 is on of those off beat subjects that I love. The 1/35 scale model is a bit on the big side and, out of my scale comfort zone.

However, I lost interest in the 1/72 kit when I saw the price. At £90 they can whistle for it.

Very weird that the 1/35 kit at twice the size is available for only £15 - £20 more.
