Saw a bunch of Revell Limited Edition Twotters at Aviation World yesterday, but can't seem to locate any reviews on the net.

Input?

It's the same as the Matchbox/Modelcraft kit

Revell bought Matchbox molds... DOH! I knew that. Move along, nothing to see here.

Thanks!  ;D

i think that this kit has a lot of potential, btw.

i mean would a low-vis grays CAF one be allowed or is that too sensible a suggestion?

Darn, I was hoping there was a newer kit in 1/72 for the subject matter.

I don't really think there was much need for that 1/72. The Twotter was one of the real high points looking back at Matchbox production. No mad trencher there, nice finely raised panel lines that would serve as a good guide if you wanted to scribe them in. Dimensionally and shapewise it was pretty much spot on.

I grew up near CFB Edmonton and had plenty of opportunities to get up close to the Twotters when they were flying out of there. The Matchbox kit captures the aircraft very nicely, looks every inch the subject.

The biggest problem is if you are going to build it on wheels or skis. If so, you'll have to replace the main wheel attachment pegs with some brass wire. The kit reqires a ton of nose weight and the main gear won't hold up where the wheels attach under that weight. It also wouldn't hurt to use brass wire to pin the main gear legs to the fuselage for added strength.

If you want to do the ski or float equiped one properly, you'll need to source some pics or diagrams that show the rigging wire arrangements for them.

My biggest vetch about the Matchbox Twotter is that it didn't include a set of big low pressure tundra wheels of the sort that were so often seen on CAF ones during northern postings.

Its a good kit that holds up well today. It doesn't need replacing, just some TLC and its fine.

BTW, a low vis grey CAF Twotter would be sacrelige! They are SAR yellow and red and I love them for it!!!

However, I wouldn't complain if someone did one up in CF-104 type green/grey over light grey tactical sceme and based it in Germany in the late 70s with the low vis roundels the CF-104s used to wear. You know the ones, blue and red with the white removed

Spooky Otter? Rig up a couple of Bofors guns in the side door? Would make a cool, cheap gunship - possibly for African air forces?

Might have to build one, actually....
