Hawker Hunter FR.13 - No.79 Squadron, RAF (detached to Norway) 1974

There is no FR.10 in Strike Fighters so I've taken the first unused Hunter designation for this 'what if' conversion of an F.6 into a fighter-recce machine having oblique cameras (decal) but no forward facing camera. The serial number is a wee bit late but is the closest match for now just to get a picture up.

Hawker Hunter FGA.9A's - RAF Middle East Command, Kuwait Crisis, 1961

The PR Blue one looks nice, and a really disgustingly dirty pink one (from the 1961 Kuwait Crisis?? REAL!) would be interesting.

Not disgustingly dirty but I've got some weathering on and some new drop-tanks. Regarding The Kuwait Emergency of 1961, I enjoyed reading that - it happened just a few weeks before I was born!

Lockheed Starfighter T.2 - No.111 Squadron, RAF Strike Command, 1976

A really nice re-work of the TF-104G was released today and it comes with this NATO camo scheme to which I've added some 'Treble One' squadron markings.

BAe Systems Harrier FG.6 - No.17 Squadron, Royal Air Force, 1996

The success of the Harrier and, in particular, the Sea Harrier in the 1982 Falklands War led to several studies for more advanced versions leading to the Sea Harrier FRS.2 and the closely related FG.6 for the RAF.

Hawker Hunter Mk.54 - MFG2, West German Marineflieger, 1962

ndicki's 'FRADU' skin gives a good base for creating an MFG2 Hunter. For the future, I need to create a better 'MARINE' decal and please note that the nose markings are off the stock Luftwaffe F-4F so probably have no relevance to a Marineflieger bird (I don't actually know how they work).

Eurofighter Typhoon FGR.4 - No.1435 Flight, RAF Mount Pleasant, Falkland Islands, 2011

Barely, a whif as I know they are already there.

Added fuselage 'bars' loosely based on the Falkland Islands Coat of Arms.

Hawker Hunter F.6A - No.1435 Flight, RAF Falkland Islands, 1961

Following the failed Argentinian invasion of 1959 the air defence of the Falkland Islands was entrusted to No.1435 flight, a detachment of Hunter F.6's.

I decided to do a curvier version of the 1435 Flight fuselage bars to more accurately match the Falkland Isles Coat of Arms. This has been repeated on the nose bars but with the Maltese Cross and the Coat of Arms added as the centre.

And guess what turned up as opposition....

Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-9 'Fargo' - Fuerza Aérea Argentina, 1952

'What If' Argentina had been gifted the MiG-9 instead of buying the Gloster Meteor F.4??

A revamp of the MiG-9 was released yesterday and I thought it would make an interesting adversary for the RAF in the South Atlantic in an early post-war Falkland Islands conflict.

The first of Dassault's superb run of first-class combat aircraft, I really like the Ouragan!

Dassault Hurricane FB.2 - No.2 Squadron, RAF Middle East Command

Just a quick knocked-up 'Desert Pink' skin (missed the airbrakes!) and more a canvas for my new No.2 Squadron decals. I'm on a programme to replace most of my RAF decals (about 640) with better 'hi-rez' versions - it'll take some time!

Canadair Sabre F.4's - No.3 and No.4 Squadrons, RAF South Atlantic Command, 1957

After the first Falkands War of 1950 the Falkand Islands defences were boosted by the delivery of Meteors and Vampires. However, by 1956 Sabre F.4's were being released from RAF Germany as Hunter F.4's were being delivered so it was decided to send two squadrons to the Falkland Islands.

No.3 and No.4 squadrons were real world Sabre users... but not in the 'Grey' and 'Falkland' camo schemes and certainly not on the Falklands! The 'Falkland' scheme is that actually used by the Fuerza Aérea Argentina!! (SEE BELOW)

North American (Rockwell) Vigilante GR.1A - No.6 Squadron, RAF Middle East Command, 1991

Julhelm's (late of this Parish) superb RA-5C masquerading as an RAF 'Desert Storm' Viggie. Julhelm generously released the templates so a Desert Pink version was well within even my ham-fisted capabilities and I've even added some noise and line blurring.
