Vapourware and the gunship version is particularly absurd.

Better off reworking a CL-515. Much lower hauling ability, but almost twice the speed, and much better internal space for crew. Dad remembered there being plenty of opportunities for cracked skulls and shins trying to get around in the PBY, moving on to the Sunderland was like going from a phone booth to a house.

The basic idea of a modernised turbo-Catalina isn't a terrible one, but I agree: this project seems like wishful thinking and fantasy.

Going through the Sunderland they had at the RAF Museum was AWE inspiring! The size of that massive hull was incredible once you got past the bomb racks.
