Apologies.... Nigel. Got carried away too !

I'll just leave it at the Heller P-47N..... you have to see the thing to appreciate how poo it really is.

My choice would be the Hobbycraft 1/72 F-82 Twin Mustang If any kit reminds me of stepping in a warm Turd barefoot on a hot summers day :ill:  :ill:  it is this kit.Even though I   LOVE  the F-82 and would love to find a decent kit of it

The 1/32 Revell F-16N.  If you can't do better than that at that scale, don't bother at all.  I don't expect tamiya-gawa fit and finish from those guys, but their offering is just terrible for this size.

QuoteCome on guys, Starfix kits make Airfix look like ultra modern, accurate models.
I was going to suggest the Starfix Spitfire. I bought one for curiosity and it's so bad it's good.

The Airfix DH88 - the Frog one was MILES better in comparison.
The Frog Hornet F3.
Any Merlin Models kit and then the pattern maker himself.
The Pegasus Spitfire F22/24 (but everyone should besent a copy of the decal sheet).

I've seen at least one built - mine.  I would not be disappointed if the molds went "away". I figure the exhausts are about 48th scale and the tail is close to 72nd. Everything is, well, just sorta in between.
I built this as an exercise to see if I could build a model like the good old days - back in the '60's - when references were practically nil, colors were brown, green, light blue, & black and there was no such thing as Green Putty. This was a 3 hour project using an Xacto, emory board, nylon paint brush and a bottle of glue. I did use accurate colors because I had them. The kit decals were crap so I used a vintage set of Airfix decals (from the Anson I believe) that were about 40 years old AND STILL WORKED! The prop turns.

I have a couple..Fujimi 1/72 E-2, Revell 1/72 F4E and the Monogram 1/48 EA-6B.

I'd also like to add the revell/monogram snap-tites, particularly the A-10(which i think was mentioned), the F-14, and the AH-64. They built into good kits 20 years ago, sometimes even without the help of glue, but now theyre almost unbuildable, especially for children.

This is a very difficult choice . should it be based on accuracy ? (here I see too many candidates from the early days from Aurora to Revell , through Airfix, Heller and Starfix, the many Eastern companies... Strangely most of the Monogram kits are spot-on what ever their age, proof that with some effort a proper model could be done even in the early sixties), on the buildability (here I can see many Airfix , Frog, Heller raising their heads to be cut -the heads I mean- and also so of the more recent Czech kits -the 1/48 Fa 223 with its rotorheads in resin with every strut and blade glued by just abutting onto it -with cyano- comes to mind) or just personnal distates (here again the 90s kits which added photo-etch and metal parts just because they were unable to inject correctly the parts in styren are good contenders)
So in the end I'll second the airfix Spit mkIX and Re8 (why not add the Brisfit ?), add the "spin-a-prop" Frog Beaufort , crash all the Ju-88 issued prior or after  the Italeri kit (including the "sculpted by Matchbox" recent Haseg entry) and for the sake of gallic destruction add the Heller Cadet Atlantic (with prop blades looking like maces in "One million years BC"), the 1/100 Heller Concorde , and the 1/40 Fouga .

Hi guys, LONG time no see!

I'd just carpet-bomb the KiTech factory (but only after removing the Airwolf and Blue Thunder molds first!).  I have 2 of their kits, and they are both huge, steaming piles...

If I can't do that...wow, so many to choose from...

Tops of my hate parade is the Ventura Avia S.199.  It's so bad, I wouldn't even put it into the spares bin! :o

If you're going to carpet bomb KiTech, leave the Airwolf molds in there (Blue Thunder can be rescued) I built the Airwolf kit when it originally came out under AMT labeling and it was an abortion of a kit back then. :ill:

True, it is a flying abortion of a model, but, hey, it's the only game in town!

Besides, aren't bad models the reason we're model builders?  :dum:
