I bought a kit and it was covered in flash. Also the undercarriage is way too thick, and most seams needed putty.

No, not some east european Frog repop but a 72 scale Hasegawa Kfir.

Hang your head in shame, Hasegawa.

I forsee ARCers and Hypercalers committing hara kiri with modelling knives at hearing this news. Their God has fallen.

I'm guessing you're under 25 years of age ;)  That kit came out in about 1978 or so (I built it in high school).  Given the age of the molds, some flash is not to be unexpected.  It's still the best Kfir C2 kit in 1/72 though.

It wasn't bad for its day, and it still isn't horrible.

Oh Jennings - if only - I'm 54.

And i was trying to be ironic. It will be a nice model when finished (shame about the undercarriage)

One reason why I stick to the Italeri Kfir kit ;)

I'm academic about flash.  I've seen some kits lambasted for flash, but if it's easily knocked off with your finger it's hardly a problem even if it's all over & the edges rarely need more work than normal.  If it's heavy, well then it's a problem but some people just see flash & assume the worst.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Better flash than short-shot.

I agree. It's a lot easier to have to get rid of extra plastic, than it is to add what's not there. And I've had some kits where I bought more than one release at different times, and one had a ton, the others had none at all. It's almost a case-by-case thing, you can't really can't judge a kit from one boxing.

Flash - meh... No problem to anyone who owns even a dull rusty #11 blade. And it can be used to fashion ultra-thin, and therefore more accurate, blade aerials and the like.

Nice tip Rat, never thought of that!

YOu leqrn something new every day..

I remember building the HasesKfir a long time ago, I also built the Italeri version, although it was kitted as an F21 and the markings were for a USN aggressor training machine. The Kfir ended it's days literally as a target. It got shot to peices

I generally don't like Hass kits. They build their kits so that you have to buy a resin or photoetch cockpit. A decal that is too large and a closed canopy is not what I expect from such a revired model company that charges me 35 bucks for a 72nd scale Skyhawk. Or, makes a big friggen deal about their "new" release when it's a 30 year old set of molds with new decals. Not cool.

I'm not complaining, it's just an opinion. I am not a JMN, but I like seeing a nice bit of detail, accurate or not, in the office.
