In mid 1930s the Polish Ministry of Communication ordered a development of an own passenger plane for LOT Polish Airlines, using imported airliners so far, mostly Lockheed Model 10 Electra and DC-2. The plane was designed in the state factory Państwowe Zakłady Lotnicze under direction of Wsiewołod Jakimiuk in 1936-1937

With war lingering over this young nation, the Polish Government decides to use the PZL.44 'Wicher' airliner as the basis for a modern Medium Fast Bomber, just as Nazi Germany had done with its He-111 and Do-17 projects!
This becomes a National Priority, which has both finances and resources thrown into it – even to the point of Poland using overseas aviation designers and technicians to speed up the project from design to service production

I am asking those in this forum to use their skills to do some art work / drawing using the basic PZL.44 as the basis of this secret bomber project, and what it could have possibly led to!
This could have been a nasty surprise to the invading German army and Luftwaffe?
Just imagine the Polish Air Force carrying out counter-air strike against German rear echelons!

P.S. - I have not been able to find any 3-view drawings of the 'Wicher' to use - Sorry!!!

Thank you in advance!!!

Nice idea, however, the Poles would have been better off speeding up development of the Hercules powered P.49 Mis, simply making the recommended improvements to the P.37 Los and producing the required numbers and, most of all, shooting the idiot Army officer, Gen Zajac, in charge of aircraft procurement who wanted to cancel the aircraft altogether. The Los was very much the equal of its contemporaries, being faster than the Do-17Z and carrying a larger load farther. The Los was in development from 1934 and entered service in limited numbers beginning in late 1938, the prototype had flown at the end of June in 1936. The Mis was a stretched fuselage development of the P.37 Los with an increased load carrying ability and higher speed.

Jakimiuk's time had been divided between the Wicher and the P.50 Jastrzab fighter with the result that neither project proceeded smoothly or on time.

p.s. I may have some Wicher drawings.

I made one a few years ago but I called it the Donkey.
I used a C-47 body with PZL-37 wings, tail and engine.
