The IPMS Belgium Nationals will be held on 29-30 Sept. in Wieze.

The IPMS NL Nationals are Nov 24 in Utrecht

We've discussed a SIG presence at one of these events before. I'd be happy to help out, but can't do it on my own (due to lack of suitable models, mostly).

I will certainly attend the Dutch nationals and maybe the Belgium ones.
The Belgium Nats last for two days, and I will be certainly not there for boyh days.

We have talked about it before, but i think its to late this year to organise something as regarding a SIG "presance". 2008 may be posible for one of the two events.

The Dutch Nationals is way to close to Telford date wise to allow any of the UK gang to make it over and surport a SIG presance. (i mean in terms of bank account balance, rather than dates). The Belguim Nationals on the other hand has more promise thou. If any of the local lads can find out who to talk to, and whats involved, then we can look into it as a posibility for 2008.
I always hope for the best.

Hello,

IPMS Belgium is watching this thread. Well, I'm not IPMS Belgium, but I'm a member and will be there on duty for the two days. (If you want in you will pass by me (or one of my team)).

I will be watching over two stands too, one of my local club and one for myself. This will be about decals (making) and trucks. (Trucks will be the most important part I guess, just because I practically spend all my free time on truck spotting).

Info on the IPMS Belgium nationals:  http://www.ipms.be

My site: http://users.pandora.be/filsoft

But I'm also running: http://www.truckspotter.be

I hope to see some of you in Wieze and maybe have a talk with you.
I'm planning to be at the IPMS NL Nationals (depending on the weather, and there's also the IPMS Gent show at the same time (very close for me))
I will be at Telford, because I have reserved a small stand for IPMS Belgium (There will be more of us over there). I want to go for the two days (wel 1 day and a half) so I have more time to talk to some people, but It could be also for one day like the last few years.

Greetings,

FilipFr

I've taken a look at ipms.be, and booking a stand seems straightforward enough. We can get 1-3 tables, 1.80x70 cm each. Building the stand is either Friday afternoon or Saturday morning.

More details (in English) in this PDF.

Just been doing some looking - there are nightly ferrys from Hull to Rotterdam and Zeebrugge.

Price for 1 person with a car (return) roughly £200

Price for 5 people with a car (per person) roughly £80

Price for 1 person, no car (foor passenger) roughly £280 (shurely shum mishtake?)

There are also daily flights from Humberside Airport to Amsterdam (that's me & Mossie sorted then   )

Whats the public transport system like in the Low Countries?  Gotta be better than here.....

For me it would be a quick trip to Dover and down trou the Drain to the other side of the channal then a quick dash for the Belgium border.done it a few times with the lads from work. and its quite cheap to use the drain/tunnel.
I always hope for the best.

Public transport's ok in general. I'd have to check if the BE Nationals venue is reachable, though.

As for ferries: the Dover-Calais ferries are cheapest (£ 80 for car + 1 person is doable). Calais-Wieze is about 150 km, I think. Amsterdam-Wieze is 200 km. Dunkirk would be even closer, but I've never used that crossing.

Cheap ferry tickets: ferrysavers.com and aferry.to sometimes offer deals, but I haven't found them to be cheaper than Seafrance for the Dover-Calais crossing.

The tunnel's cheap as long as you don't bring your car.

for those who will do the journey by train (like me) the best thing you do is take the train to Aalst (thats the train heading to/from Brussels airport) an take the bus in Aalst station (it should stop closeby, i dont know for sure as im going for the first time).

for those coming by ferry, its to bad the Ostend-Ramsgate ferry doesnt sail anymore, but for the closest, i recommend the dover-calais or the ramsgate (i think)-zeebrugge ferry or (if you are by car) the channel tunnel  B)

i should have left for the station by now, but i was a little overstressed from work yesterday (and the bad weather today), that i decided not to go today in order to get some rest and i got some things to sort out. but i will be there tommorow  B)

Just got back. Full report (incl photos) will have to wait till tomorrow, but I had an enjoyable day out. Didn't manage to meet up with FilipFr (found his stand, but not him).

As for having a SIG stand there; the show is rather smaller than the UK Nationals, I think you could fit the show in slightly under 1/2 of one of the SMW halls. That means you won't need all weekend to see everything there is to see.
Stand space is evenly split between traders and clubs.
When I left at 14:00, there were maybe 100 visitors inside. There were a few more in the morning, but it never got too busy to get to the tables and browse/ogle.
Wieze looks like a sleepy little town.
