Today had me scratching my head at the identity of a large helicopter flying north then south, possibly along the M6 route. Painted in red white and blue stripes, it looked like an S-92 to me but after looking at pictures it also favoured an EC225. could have been a Bristow helicopter in those colours as they run both. Hopefully it will come over again but a bit closer next time.

You sure it wasn't a Merlin with James Bond and the Queen?

Could have been checking the power lines and pylons for National Grid.

Westland have two other helicopters painted up like the Merlin Chris, an AW169 prototype, I-EASF, and an AW139, G-OLYM, which could be mistaken for a S-92  as they look a bit similar in shape

If it was she didn't stay where she went for very long
I will look those 2 helicopters up now Robert, and see whether it was one, I am a very long way away from the westland factory though, and it was painted in Bristow colours....hmm. I thought I heard it again about 20m minutes ago, but it wasn't it, it was an Army Lynx.
Thanks to Kitnut, I think I may have I.D'd the culprit, the AW 139 I have just seen a picturesof looks virtually identical to what I saw. Cheers Robert.

Just a couple snapshots to share...

It was one of those winter days when the only sunshine one saw was painted on a plane passing by.

Its not the workbench that makes the model, it is the modeler at the workbench.

LOVE the eagles with the Gulfstream.  I saw a pair of adult doing their Spring Skydance on my way to work this morning.  Their hormones must be churning!

Spotted a Piaggio P.180 Avanti flying towards London City Airport today. A pusher prop canard airliner certainly sticks out amongst all the Airbuses, Boeings and Bae146s going over London!
Sadly no photos as I was working. :-\

Just before mid-day, P-3 came past on long finals, not too unusual, until I took a good hard look - the underside where the sonorbuoy bay usually is, was a huge aerial farm. Leads me to think it may not have been a RNZAF machine possibly Aussie or even USN.... off I go to do some digging !!

There seems to be more and more ground attack type helicopters hanging about my area.
Should I be worried?  :o

Mmm, doubt its a RAAF machine.  Sounds more like a USN special or even a RNZAF job.

4 army Lynxes in line astern, fairly low, heading West over Carlisle.     Noisy blighters!!  I think they were following the line of the River Eden.
