I wonder why at Prestwick, have they run out of runways in Holland?

I almost forgot about this, but on Tuesday I heard some engines being run up for take-off which sounded a bit different. A quick glance around the corner from where I was posted, I saw this all black 757 running down 17R at YYC.

(not my photo, found on the internet)

I truly do not know Kit, but they are here fairly regularly, so are KLM with various types.

As are Thompson, Monarch, Jet 2, EasyJet, and of course Ryanair.

I would suggest that there is less traffic around Prestwick rather than around the areas that those organisations are based at.

Which is why ACY gets all sorts of medium and heavy military aircraft in- from US Navy C41s to Dover-based C-5s, McGuire-based KC-10s and C-17s, and the VC fleet out of Andrews- for currency

I spotted a V-22 Osprey over London today, possibly practising landings into Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace. Very unusual. Somebody important must be in town soon.
Ten minutes later a fleet of dark green UH-60's went over the Eye heading east.

Get this. They're flying out of Stansted airport. http://www.hertsandessexobserver.co.uk/Obama-London-visit-Stortford-residents-treated/story-29138355-detail/story.html

We have the Canadian version, the Harvard II. Had a couple of them taxi right by where I was parked on the apron at YYC a few weeks ago, didn't seem any louder than any of the other turbo-prop planes that are all over the airport.

Heard approaching aircraft and thought "Warbirds!".
Ran outside, ran back in for the binoculars, ran out again and saw a Mustang, Corsair and Warhawk at low level in V formation approach from the East, circle the house and return from whence they came (probably Tyabb as thats where they live).

They sounded great and made my day.

I was buzzed at fairly low level by an RAF Herk en route back from the MK Show.

I diverted from my planned main road route due to the HORRENDOUS level of traffic trying to get back to London from Silverstone and passed right by Weston-on-the-Green where the RAF does a lot of its paradrop training, flying Herks from Brize these days, but I was surprised to see them doing it on  Sunday.  :o
