It definitely would be awesome to see eight Merlins flying in formation. What a sound that would make!!

And even better if they co-incided one of their flights with '558 too.

And preferably flew over 'Just Jane' taxi-ing on her field as well. That'd be TWELVE Merlins and four Olympuses! (Olympii?)

When I was at Duxford in 2002 there was a gathering of Spitfires and Hurricanes which did a formation fly-past, can't remember how many aircraft did that but I think 15 comes to mind.

Watching a heat race of just Mustangs at Reno is a close second for gorgeous sound ----

Apparently they ARE going to do a fly-past at East Kirby!

This month's 'Flypast' magazine has some display dates in August for the 'Lanc Pair' and there's more to come in September too.

AH but you can just imagine the audio porn I experienced when this beauty flew over as my sister and I were exiting a restaurant. There is nothing like the sounds of multiple radials signing in tune.

She reminded me there was another plane which I had seen yesterday, once again when I didn't have my camera so I said "Groceries be d@^^ned! I want to SEE"!
It's an AC-47 Dakota gunship complete to two simulated Gattling guns in the port side.
"Just which planet are you from again"?

There was something multiengine and reciprocating overhead yesterday.  But as I was in the woods, couldn't see it.  But definitely *wasn't* turbine, like normal traffic in ACY.

Sunday afternoon, DC3/Dakota from BBMF, LOW AND SLOOOOWWW over our house.
Yesterday 2 pairs of F-15's, not a regular visitor to these parts.
More likely to see Tornado and Typhoon on their way to the North Devon ranges and using a local large landmark as a navaid
too old for a paper round, too young for me pensions, dammit, back to work then!

A Griffon Spitfire passed over here today, quite high up and heading west. I could only see the silhouette and hear the engine so have no idea which one it was.

Always awesome.  I saw Princess Elizabeth, a P-51B/C that's part of the USAF Heritage Flight, in the restoration hangar at Duxford when I was there in 05.

12 F/A-18 Hornets in tight formation over city center and the office building where I work.

I don't know why, and the formation was a little strange: two diamonds of 4 Hornets, one V of 3, and a lone one on the other side - all line abreast or in very shallow V.

Got it now:
They were returning from the last scheduled aircombat exercise of Hävittäjälentolaivue 21. The squadron will be disbanded and its assets moved to the two remaining squadrons. The Air Command will have Transport and Test Flight units, and the base will still be used for Fighter readiness duties.

The Mustangs went over again twice about 15 minutes ago.  ;D
