After cancellation of the F-106 Delta Dart & F-108 Rapier, the USAF decided to approach Avro Canada and purchase the Arrow. If this scenerio was to occurr, how would the USAF have used the Arrow especially during the Vietnam war?

Over Vietnam?  Most likely as a recce bird with a recce pod in place of the standard weapons bay pod.  Either that or a standoff aircraft of some sort.  For what was going down in 'Nam, any other use is really cracking walnuts with a sledgehammer.

It's main use would, I rather imagine, be as an interceptor with ADC, though I can see some squadrons trained with AGM-76s as pathmaker squadrons for SAC bombers in the event of a full-scale attack on a well-armed opponent.

It could have raced against USN Vigilantes in the recon role...

French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

There was a history channel documentary that showed renderings of an Arrow in SEA camoflage... whatever use it'd actually have, it'd look cool. B)

What about the Wolf Pack missions, IIRC F-102s or F-106s were in the last wave of US fighters

Heh, if it's some of the advanced Arrow versions, it likely could've supplemented the A-11/SR-71 in high and fast recce work.  I didn't think the F-102 flew Wolf Pack missions, just some air defense and some night missions against the Ho Chi Minh Trail using IR-Falcons to target cooking fires.

I think the VIg and the Arrow would've filled two different recce roles, the Vigi could get in low and fast (RA-5C and F-105 were the only aircraft there capable of Mach 1+ at sea level) while recce Arrows did the high altitude work.

Maybe they could have been two variant of this recon Arrow, one with a removable pack on the centerline, other beeing a dedicated variant similar to Mirage IIIR, RF-4C or MiG-25R...
An Arrow with a RF-4C nose would looks cool...

Here is my 'ideal' mix of ADC interceptors in the mid-60s; the Arrow is of course included.

Shas, I'm very interested by this damned camera (HIAC-1) so any infos ojn this recon system would be helpful... I already know that Israel had three phantoms modified to carry it, but there's no much infos on the system itself  :(

An Arrow with such a system would be a tremendous recon platform to say the least!

My thoughts exactly.   Either that or 5th FIS, the Spittin' Kittens in Minot, N.Dak.   I don't know if we'd have been able to handle the sonic booms, however.   The F-106 was pretty bad as was the Phantom which we'd hear almost daily during summer months, less so in winter.   The SR-71's would really shake things up too with their overflights on the way up and back.   But to have Arrows instead of the Delta Dart likely would have caused a Grandmother's Revolt over broken heirloom china.   There were a lot of dignified citizens up there then.
