:D  At the northern show yesterday my  11 year old son Ryan came   third   in the Junior section with his own what if, the winning and second place kits were made by a 18 year old who enterd a selection of busts from Games Workshop!  <_<

 His face was a picture as this was his first meating and only the second model he has put together.

Now he has been set a challange to make a winning kit out of a airfix p51 and F4U
Corsair
Me, I'm dishonest, and you can always trust a dishonest man to be dishonest.
Honestly, it's the honest ones you have to watch out for!!!

Wild looking racer, congrats to your boy Lenny!!  Bit lame than an 18 yo can enter as a 'Junior' but I suppose it's not what you know but who.  Most excellent he came away with a prize tho, I'm sure we'll all be seeing more of his work on here in the near future.

Wow, good work, tell the youngster we love it!  It's something I wouldn't have thought of, but F1 & Indy cars do lend themselves very well to be racer or fighter aircraft, Ryans got a keen eye!  And theres no way I could have managed such a clean finish at eleven, I'm with Carlos, smeering glue every where & although I painted, it was in over thick coats that took days to dry!

Looking forward to the next kit!  Well done on your third place Ryan, I think you were worth first!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Twas I who set the Mustang-Corsair challange for young Ryan.
Hes won a medal with his first model so its a good place to move on from and come up with other ideas. Keep the youngsters interested and the hobby will live on

Plus it found a good home for a pair of surplus kits lol.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

What the proud fathet has failed to mention is that the general standard of the entries in the Junior section was very high and apart from the busts there was some good looking armour. It should also be noted it was possibly the most popular class in terms of number of entries. So Ryan's third was an even higher achievment and thoroughly deserved.  :salute:

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
