Hey all

Long story short, I'm after one to four Sopwith Scout/"Pup" kits. 1:72 will do fine. 1:48 would be cool but I'm not made of money.

This is for a temporarily whiff project. I can't say more yet as I'm sworn to secrecy, but I'm part of a major initiative which will soon bear fruit. If you have a spare 1:72 Pup then please let me know.

Cheers,
Zac

I don't know about a new mold Airfix Sopwith Pup but I built the old 1/72 version about 12 years ago, during my first modelling comeback. It was a fun little kit and not too hard to get the top wing on either, even if the struts weren't as sturdy as I would've liked. I bet you can find one for around $5 U.S. with no problem.

The airfix pub is the best WWI kit airfix made. Engine can spin along with prop. Prop isnt as flimsy as the camel kit. Struts are very easy to add. Alltogether a nice and fun kit   (shall i look for one in the LHS on saturday?)

BUMP!

Okay, I'll be happy with just one!  I havent been able to find the Airfix kit - or any other - in NZ for love nor money.

One of these days I might make it out to the really good hobby shop that re-located. When I do, I'll see if they have a Pup for you Zac. They used to have a nice selection of Airfix kits.

Eduard did a 1/48 Sopwith Pup Zac, there's a review on MM:

No idea if you'll be able to find one in NZ & although it was in production only a short while ago, I haven't been able to find any with a quick web search.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

I was hoping like mad Eduard did one! Woo! It's a shame it's such an old review - I hate those single photo jobbies! Ah well, odds are I'll be able to do a new one when I track a kit down.

Brian and Simon, thank you both immensely. I hope like mad one is floating around somewhere.

No problem Zac!  It's one of those important aircraft that some how seems to have been missed my the big manufacturers, shame it's not seen that much.  I would have thought it would be more popular than the 1 1/2 strutter & a there's a few kits knocking around of that.

I had a quick browse on e-bay.  There was an item which included a Pup & a Pfalz, it's finished now, but it seems there's a hobby shop in the US selling off some old oop WWI kits.  I had a look at their website, they don't do web sales but it might be worth contacting them.  They say it costs US$13.50, around NZ$19 to ship a kit over to Oz, doesn't seem that expensive (all things considered).  You might pay a little over the odds, but worth it if you really want one!  Might be worth seeing what else you can get.

But you can guarantee that if you do get it Eduard will re-release the kit within a month!!! :dum:

Yeah, typical! I'd love to see Roden do a new-tool Pup in 72nd, and Eduard to rerelease the 48th one.

I'm also getting more and more keen on a kit of the Sopwith Triplane. We have a large model of one in the AHC and Peter's folks at Masterton are building an airworthy one, so I'd like to do a kit of that.
