Backstory
Apparently in the mid-seventies the Japanese Government approached Hawker Siddeley in regard to either buying outright or preferably buying a production license for the GR3 Harrier - Interest was renewed after the Falklands war in 1982 and further interest expressed in the Sea Harrier.

Still got to add the undercarriage doors cos I forgot to paint them previously, so quickly sprayed them this afternoon, and they aint dry yet  :dum: . Also need to do my usual trick with the silver/Tamiya clear colours for the formation and nav lights.

Thanks for looking. As usual all comments, questions and criticism is welcomed, but bare-in-mind this has been built NOT as a scale model, but as a painting exercise, hence the blacked-out cockpit and absence of any weathering etc.

I like it but what about the blacked-out cockpit and absence of any weathering?

:P

Stunning.

Actually, that blacked out canopy gives it a very modern, somewhat sinister appearance.  Looking sweet!

looking good Ian, now how about an Irainian navy Shar 1 in the scheme their P-3s wore as the next "painting exercise".
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Aah, I was going to say, the paint scheme looks a bit stark compared to your usual masterpieces

Nice one mate....Ill just hijack your threat for a mo if I may

Martin: Those Iranian P.3s in "that" scheme were very effective.
When I worked on the old ULCC's got buzzed by one ( eyes watered) in the Gulf years ago when we were still friends with Iran. Picked him up on radar abot 12 miles out but couldnt see the dam thing in the morning heat haze until it was practically on top of us.
Very effective indeed

Ian et al,
I've also toyed with the idea of painting the canopy flat black or maybe shiny gold just to save time and redirect attention to the camo scheme. It'd also save quite a bit of money too. But I've never really done it.

Top notch whiffing ITHG (Ian The Hunter Gatherer) and a delightful camo scheme.

I'm not familiar with the Tamiya kit, is that the same nose as the FRS1?

Super sweet !  Very clean build.

This is just too cool, the decals really made your camo pop! Harrier looks great in this scheme :) Really nice paint work.
