Well, we're in the year of the regularly scheduled Bi-annual Selfridge ANGB Air Show!  This year is the 90th anniversary of the base itself, in addition to the 60th anniversary of the USAF.

The show is tentatively scheduled for July 21-22.

Currently, neither the Blue Angels or Thunderbirds are scheduled to perform, though the Thunderbirds have an open weekend, so that's a possibility.

BAE Systems is probably going to have a tent again, so depending on what's at the show, I may volunteer for a few hours at the tent, and get unsober the rest of the time.

Selfridge's entire website seems to be down at the moment, else I'd post a link to the info on their site.

More info to come.

Sarnians, I'm expecting you to crash the gates this year  :P

Crash the gates...crash at your place, and then hit the duty free for some cheap booze on the way home !

;)

Hope to be there, but it'll all depend on work.

I feel pretty confident in saying I'll be there. EAA AirVenture starts on the following Monday, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. As long as I can organise some accomodation! ;)

How far is Oshkosh from you, Anthony?

Cheers,
Zac

Here's to hoping !

Well, the airshow's website is back up, but it's got nothing in terms of attractions.  We'll definitely get a heritage flight, but I don't know if it'll be with an A-10, F-16, F-15, or (God willing) an actual NEW plane like the F-22.

We ain't got s#!+ for new planes here in years, though we did get a B-2 flyover last time (oooh, ahhh, it's $1 Billion dollars flying by...).

This will definitely be the last hurrah for the base's F-16's, so I'm going to be there with a digital camera, taking as many good pics of the 107th's planes as I can.

How far am I from Oskosh?  Far away.  Straight-line, a couple hundred miles, but in order to get there via the ground, you're looking at a couple hundred more miles as you need to go around Lake Michigan (which is on the other side of the mitten) to get to Wisconsin.  Looking at easy a 10-12 hour drive!

The airshow site has been updated.  They're filling out the scheduled aerial demonstrations, as well as what's going to be on static display, but it looks like I'm going to be disappointed again.  Whoever's in charge of scheduling the airshow needs to be court martialed.  They have two flipping years to get ready, and it seems they don't start until March, when most planes and aerial demonstrations are already scheduled to be elsewhere!  Maybe they'll surprise us with some new planes on static display, though I doubt it.

It looks like BAE won't have a tent this year.  I doubt many ground vehicles will be there at all, actually.

The 104s alone will be worthwhile for me, as well as the Vietnam flight. Hueys, Cobras, Mohawk, Caribou......

Have to agree with you about most of the display, tho...one or two civy aero acts are more than enough ( ie: to many ) you're a military establishment, let's see the hardware ! Where's the pride of the USAF, the Raptor ? Or the Osprey ?

One week to go!  I swear I saw a Super Hornet in the air yesterday.  Golfing should be interesting this week, if only to see who's parked on the ramp a week early.

It looks like I'll be going Saturday, though both days are supposed to be good weather.

I saw something on the airshow site about parking, and in the parking, it said something about roads being closed during the Blue Angels' demonstration.  I had to reread it a few times before I figured out that they just copied and pasted the description from the last airshow.  Get my hopes up, then crush them...

Ah, well, it should still be fun, if only to walk around the ramp.

Starfighters.....cancelled ! No mention of the Vietnam Flight anymore either. Think I might just stay home. I was so looking forward to seeing the 104s fly, everything else will just be whatever.....

The 104's were canceled?!  That sucks.

But now we get some C-17's, and a C-5's at the base already.  Looks like we're getting at least two F-15E's now, as well as a B-52 again (haven't had one of those in years).

Hopefully I'll be in good enough shape to drive after golf tonight so I can at least see what's on the ramp.

We're currently in the humming and hawing mode on this one....give you the final decision later tonite.

Pro : How can you pass on an airshow that's free and only 45 mins. from your home ?

Con : No Starfighters.....

if you go, stay in the right hand lane on I-94 through the construction.......unless you want two dented rims from a pothole that would swallow a mini cooper.

Yeah, there's construction from about 23 Mile on south, but if you get off at 23 Mile and head East, you'll be able to catch Jefferson along Lake St. Claire (it's a couple miles East).  That'll dump you right at the base's main entrance.  If you want to dare I-94 construction all the way down, you'll have to get off at 21 Mile and take that to the base, since the M-59 exits are closed (last I checked).

Took a drive around the base last night.  Saw some A-10's from Battle Creek that look like they're staged for an aerial display, as well as 4 KC-135's and half a dozen F-16's.  Looked like there was at least one each of those types on the ramp.  The Strike Eagles are also on the ramp, and they'll probably do what they did in the past, ie, block off pedestrians so the F-15E's can taxi.

One C-5 dominates the tarmac, along with a Barksdale B-52.  Didn't see the Rhino Hornet, but did see a Whiskey Cobra.  They've also got an E-3 that'll probably be open to the public (like they did two shows ago).  Also, one of the little orange CG helo's was already parked next to a hangar, as well as a Border Patrol OH-6.  Looks like they only sent one C-17 to the base, as it's sitting where the T-Birds and Blues usually sit for their aerial demonstrations.

Lemme know if you're going, and if it's today or tomorrow.
