After watching the movie umpteen times, I think I got the shape right. It's built around a 1/72 P-38 cockpit narcell, only made bigger and changed the shape a bit more. The prop is from a 1/72 P-39 and the wings are balsa, and the tails are E/green. On looking at the movie, I decided Dk Blue with Yellow trim would look close to the hue. Yellow for the markings, as they look a dirty white in the movie.
Scale : 1/60

I am now working on the BIG WING, and the only thing keeping me going on this project is the odd Vodka.

Rafael

Ummm, Vodka, Tovarisch!!!!!
Definately worked miracles in this build!!!!

I love the idea and its execution is flawless!!!

A little cardboard, (Cardboard, Yum!!!) could help in your next build, maybe?

Glenn this little beauty totally made my day! I think you've replicated it perfectly! No easy feat given how quick the shots of it pass by in the film. Is there any chance we can see some more pics?

I can't wait to see your "Big Wing"!

Awesome!

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

HEY, HEY, Glen!!! I missed it this morning, but the spinning effect on that propeller is the magic touch!!!

That looks sharp!  I can't wait to see the big wing.  There are some pictures and a set of plans for a flying model of the small plane at:

Wings over the World Rule OK!
And for the vodka, drop a hot pepper, some lemon zest, or some cucumber peel into it for a week or two before consumption for something a little bit different and pretty darn good.

This is the first shot of The Big Wing. The wings are reverse cranked and the outer wings are swept back. The fuselages are just the basic balsa here, although the model has just had it over coat of Dk Blue.
The span is 24 inches, and I'd say the scale was around 1/200.

Truly incredible.  In my boxcar-coupling-mitts, that delicate little beauty would have been accidently broken a dozen times if I tried that.

Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

Neat stuff, Glenn...have to love those scratchbuilds.
