I'm back on the what-if bandwagon. This is the first steps on Italeri's 1/48 Gripen. I'm using Eduard's photoetched cockpit set, which may have been a waste since the canopy will be closed (to keep out the snow). I'll give specifics on camo/markings when I'm sure I can make it happen.

Heh heh...yeah. She just came out of the sanding shop and hadn't toweled off yet.

Germany, Holland (for their SAR drivers), HM Coastguard for our S61 troops..... Me (when I'm in a Microlight), a sensible option for anybody flying overwater.

Personally I'm hoping for, well anything really as long as there's not too much grey

That's what I thought as well!

David, I've always loved your work, and I think the Gripen is one of the best looking aircraft to come out in years, so I really can't wait to see this model developed.
Man, we should have cloned twenties. Jackson wouldn't have given a poo-poo.

Ok gents, some more progress. Started painting yesterday. Here's how it looked late this afternoon after the final color was applied. Masking is a combination of the yellow flavor of Blu-Tak plus painter's tape in some areas. It took hours to do.

And here it is with all the tape and crap removed. Some areas need touch up, but overall, I'm pretty happy with how the scheme turned out. I know, I know, it's gray, but it was my only option since this aircraft will be doing maritime interdiction. The decals are printed, so hopefully I can get them on tomorrow (I'll be home with my sick daughter, so I can probably work on it while she naps).

David this is indeed proof that not all gray camo schemes are boring. Absolutely  beautiful!
