Well, with all the other bits of other models drying, it was time to pull one out of the stash, and it's a revellogram Mustang, weapons shaved, and wing mounted 40mm cannon...one hell of a tank buster!  In south african markings, with some whacky camo...of course:

Are you frickin serious?!?  This is too much.

Wow, can we get a shot from aft perspective, too, please?

Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

Looks good.
about time I built another 'stang, but I've an idea for an RAF Wildcat with 40mm cannon....
and a Wildcat in Finnish colours....and a French one too.....

Mustangs.....there were some nice camouflaged Swiss and Indonesian ones, REAL that is.
But what about some spectacular Dutch ones in Korea, with Belgian ones too.
What about French camouflaged ones in North Africa?
South Vietnamese? Cambodian??

What about post-war Finnish 'Stangs??

Sounds like a great idea Greg, I'm looking forward to seeing it come to fruition! You never can have too many Whifstangs!

Rad - YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSS! South Vietnamese sounds killer! Nice companion to my A-51D perhaps.........

Cheers,

Zac

Wow Greg I am simply in awe of your talent at cockpit detailing. I wish I had the skill to do such work. If the 'pit is any indiciation, this one is gonna be a real stunner!

Whoa, whoa!!!!  The cockpit detailing is really, really  easy...working from the backround to the front, it's a piece of cake.
Paint everything black (flat).  Starting with the major areas, apply the colours (chromate, silver, etc). Use foil for the belts, but prepaint it with a rattlecan. Pick out the buckles with white/silver mixed together, wait about two hours, then draw in the outlines with a permanent fine marker. Then, the most important part: put on a nice sludge wash, or two!!!  Piece of cake.
I absolutely do not make the greatest pits, looking at some of the work I've seen here and on other sites, I would say I build "two footers" at best.  Trust me, once you start making your own belts and buckles (or buying the aftermarket), your planes go way up a level.  I like to use wine bottle foil, because it is so thick, but you can use heavy duty Reynold's Foil also.

Wings are on, and the psr is beginning...have to have this one built by next week, as Jessi shows up on Tuesday again, and will be signing some photos for sale...keep your eyes open, I'll post a link to the ebay auction.
