Hey guys

What can I say, the F-35 is the only modern jet I can say that I truly like the look of. I finally dived in and got one at my LHS today (NZ$19.90, what a bargain! B) ), but now I'm stuck as to what I wanna do with it. I'd love to do it Kiwi, but having just done the F-16K and about to dive into a Kiwi Hawk, I'm thinking I'd like to do something different.

Shasper has suggested RAAF (which I can do as the Hawk came with roondels), and Ollie has said an AMARC target drone. Pretty colours!

Any/all ideas and profiles welcome. At the very least I;m thinking the STOL version.

What scale Zakky?

How about German?  Cooooo...imagine one in lovely retro grey/green cammo and day-glo accents.

*daydreams happily*.

Paint it up in the same camouflage scheme as the Skyhawks and strap some pylons under the wings from an F-16 for fuel and ordnance and just to irritate Evan, put a pair of missile launch rails on the wing tips to carry AMRAAM or Sidewinder missiles.  What scale is it?  If you have ventured into the big dogs scale of 1/48th, I can certainly assist you in loading it up with pylons, fuel tanks and weapons.

I heartily reccomend adding spats. It's a prooven fact that spats increase the coolness factor of any aircraft by 1000%!

I love spats!

:P You guys! Such funky ideas, if only I had a dozen of these kits.

1:72. Sorry, should'a said so in the first post.

I was thinking wingtip rails! Mmmmmm...........wing rails..................

What I've decided on is three-tone desert splinter RAAF ground pounder horizontal-nozzled gear down doors closed canopy open(?) F-35B.

Or something similar.

Progress thus far:

This kit is going together nicely! I have had very few fit problems, so far the only major one has been the doors covering the lift fan directly aft of the cockpit. I've loaded the fan with Humbrol filler in preparation for forcing the doors on. I'll need to bring out the filler again for the fuse join below the cockpit, as there is a glaring gap (same with the extreme nose). I'll get back to her after work tomorrow. I would do some more after this gorgeous nacho feast, but Empire Strikes Back is on. Boba! Boba! Boba!

Wow that's some nice work, Zac! I am particularly impressed by your treatment of the burner can. You are becoming a burner can pro!

What is that little beasty hiding behind the F-35 in that last pic?

How about enclosed wingtip mounts, to keep the stealthiness?

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Zac, be careful or you'll end up with something like this!

I really should finish it

I picked up an alternative history novel last night and it has an F-35 with Nazi markings on it...oddly enough it didn't look bad. Can't wait to see what you choose for yours :)
