While the Ceylonese were adding ASM ability to the single seat MiG-28s (resulting in the MiG-28SM seen here), the twin sticks were getting upgraded as well. Besides integrating the Kayak ASM (as well as the CS800, 801 and the Exocet), a generic recce capability was incorporated, as well as Precision munitions. Since the UBR was being produced during the latter half of the SM program, it benefitted from the latter model's added strakeletts fitted above and ahead of the intakes, and the updated EW system.

Opinions needed, I'm gonna stick the recce pack on the centerline, but I'm not sure about where the laser designator will go. Should I mount it under one og the intakes ala F-15E, or further up the fuseloge underside almost like the A-10?

Looking good, Shas, ¿Why not an integrated Recce/Rangefinder/Designator on the centerline pack?

perhaps a rotating/gimballed faired ball with all the necessary optics in it.

Edit: My glasses are dirty, didn't see that spine. Gorgeous!!

I'll second this suggestion of putting all the optronics together.  If you had the airframes to spare, aircraft with dedicated recce/targeting noses similar to that of the RF-5E would work.

Guys, you must think like a Russian  ;)  Besides, we're talking about the mid to late 80's here, no way you could fit eastern bloc cameras and a LD in the same package.
