Hi folks,

I'm sure many of you are aware of the JB-17G trials aircraft that mounted an extra engine in the nose:

But what if this was taken further and we had a single engined B-17 (with all the guns etc (excepting of course the tail ones).  The following pic was recently posted on Secret Projects.

Greg
All hail the God of Frustration!!!

BlackOps

A lot fewer B-17 would have made it home from bombing missions!  One engine just looks freaky  :P

I bet it would look good with three engines though.

It also shows just what a clean looking bird the B-17 actually is!

Reminds me of that Russian plane that flew from Russia to the US back in the 1930's. A Tupolev design? It had a single engine and huge wings.

Yep, Tupelov ANT-25.

Hmmm...much reduced span, and R-4360 engine... I agree for the ANT-25 and Battle, this think looks very similar!

This is not a good thing!

An RAF headquarters 'somewhere in Buckinghamshire' has just renamed all its buildings from the evocative 'E', 'F', '2' and '6' Blocks (etc) to Spitfire, Lancaster, Hurricane (etc).  My suggestions for Fairey Battle and Blackburn Botha were ignored...

That single engined B-17 wouuld make luftwaffe run away, coz they look like huge fighters :P

Add 18 20mm gun in the wings :)

With a turbo-supercharged-compound-R4360 engine (3800 hp). Cameras in the bomb bay, no defensive armement, shorter wings...

BdB, if we add spats, the result could be something similar to a 'scaled-up)

someone has to turn this cincept into plastic :)
