So I'm thinking it must be something to do with the corporal punishment inflicted on me in the British School system that I must be some kind of masochist. Not enough that I have to build nightmare kits but when I do try a bit of Hasegawa therapy, I make sure I do it on a tight deadline and have to do it in secret! :o

This years girl's pressie builds are not gonna be pink, yeah I know it's a shock but they will have movie tie ins.

Started today on this lovely little Hasegawa cockpit which is gonna be completely invisible under the canopy so I wanted to show it off somewhere.

you may be able to guess the plane but i doubt you'll figure out the movie. ('cos it's a real stretch  )

Model number 2 gets started in ten minutes.

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid

I'm guessing Hurricane - maybe Typhoon - but I'm d*mn*d if I can think of a movie with a pink Hurri !

Ding ding ding - We have a winner it is a Hurricane, but there's not gonna be any pink this year. This one is going to be bog standard dark earth/dark green and I don't know if this particular bird was ever "in" a movie, but I think it's safe to say the pilot had definately been to the movies at some time  Hey I told you it was going to be a stretch. Any way I recommend Hasegawa therapy for anyone in a modeling funk, a complete airframe in an afternoon and possibly paint to-morrow, that's gotta be a first for me :)

And model no.2 was absolutely featured in a movie. Unfortunately the difficulty in finding this kit here at a reasonable price meant I ended up with one that somebody had already started, so first order of business is stripping off the not so good brush paint job on half the parts.

Hey!!! an assembled model for a present?

Cool!!

And very sweet that you do it for your girls, Leigh.

It is a very valuable thing, to give something crafted with one's own hands. There's a whole lotta love in there.

Congratulations!!!

You're gonna wow the girls again this year, Leigh!

I'm still in suspenders about your Hurricane, but I'm sure you'll let the more obtuse of us in on it as you get nearer to completing it.

Actually this one was easy, when Anstiss was all proud to tell me that her favourite author Roald Dahl flew Hurricanes I knew exactly what to build. So with a Hasegawa Tropical Hurricane, bit of research, some help from the guys at ARC, and a cobbled together serial no. from the decal spares we Have Dahl's hurricane from Greece 1940

The Hasegawa kit is an absolute dream to build, but no model comes without it's challenges. I'm on a schedule to get this one done, go to paint the top side and my badger 200-20 which worked perfectly the day before, has been meticulously cleaned refuses to spray paint. Grab my Badger 150 and it's in the same mood, k the cheapo single actions i've got should work but no, neither did the testors one step up from a rattle can airbrush. K it's either run out buy a new airbrush, hand paint or................................................... grab that Aztek from out the back of the drawer. Now my Aztek was my first ever airbrush about seven years ago, tried using it once, couldn't and had never touched it since. God plays cruel tricks I absolutely adore the Aztek now, did this camo job freehand! Something I've never dared to try before.

So I'm using an Aztek freehand, building real world subjects including these that I've built since Christmas Academy Corsair I, Airfix Spitfire IX and the Revelairfigawa Spitfire I...am I turning into a serious modeler?

Certainly convincing enough!  I was lucky to get a book detailing the author's life for christmas (he's one of my favourite writer's also), and was astounded at the amount of flying time he had.

 Neat build, Sir.

Leigh that is one sweet Hurri you've built! The other models you provided links to are stunning as well. I really like your paint chipping on the Hurri. Your daughter is gonna love it!
