What if GB idea

Ok. Gents, is 11:11 PM in my time zone, and i can't sleep (Sleepless in Caracas). Since i am awake, the wife is in the 18th dream, and the dogs are counting sheep, cats, or whatever dogs count when sleeping, i made a quick rendition of what i would like to post as part of the GB. Ok. Basher, Thanks for the invitation. Count me in. BTW, i'm the new guy here, remember? how does this Group Build thing works?

Hola amigo (that used up 90% of my Spanish vocabulary). Typically around here a Group Build can be an informal thing. Once we get a few like-minded folks together, we seek some official sanction from Supertom or Thorvic (the board moderators) and open up a topic under the Offical Group Builds list. However, such sanction isn't necessary for a GB to proceed. Once we line up the participants, we figure out a timeframe and then what the prizes are and the GB is off and running. Winners are usually determined by votes cast from board members and the votes are counted by the GB moderator.

I hope that helped explain things a bit for you Rafa. It's great to have you aboard!

Thank you Basher!!!. This is Fantástico!!! please, you and the rest of the guys  give me your opinions and suggestions about it Beginning with what can i add to depict a heating instalation for the engine, remember this is an arctic bird and i don't know diddly about cold weather, being from tierras calientes. BTW, is it too early to start posting fotos of my little WHIRLYCANE on this thread? (That's why i posted it on the Gannet's)

A six month timeframe is certainly doable. We've got the Secret Santa GB running from December 25th until the end of June. It would probably be a good idea to wait until February to start the Alt. Landing Gear/VSTOL GB.

P.S. I sent Supertom a note on this requesting his official sanction and a February 1st kickoff date. I also sent word to Thorvic as well.

Ok folks, I've PM'd Supertom & Mr Thorvic on this and am still awaiting word. Here's the rules as I envision them. Any suggestions are welcome.

Alt. Landing Gear/VSTOL GB rules:

1. The build runs from February 1st until August 1st 2007.

2. All entries must possess either a different kind of landing gear; floats, skis, spats , tracks, FiCon, Skyhook/SkyTrapeze or be a VSTOL.

3. All entries must be a What-If of course.

4. Kitbashes and Scratchbuilds are encouraged.

5. The winner will be determined by either Poll or votes sent to me by PM. The voting method will depend on the number of entrants. Depending on particiaption, I may offer a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

5. The winner(s) will recieve an Alt. Landing Gear/VSTOL kit from my stash. I'd encourage the winner(s) to post a pic of their completed build of their prize.

Unless someone else volunteers, I'll offer to moderate this GB and submit a "Display Only" entry.

If any of you are interested in going forward even without official sanction, let me know.

Pencil me in       I feel like exploring a B-29 into WIG  conversion. If that doesn't happen I'll try to chuck together something closer to my "comfort zone"
