Images from a book

I have scanned some images from a Salamander book of 1982. Those images are of that kind of fictions about soviet fighters. I find them very inspiring for whatifers. There is even a beatiful fictious profile of Saab JAS-39 Gripen.

My concern is: is there any problem if I publish those images, only 3 or 4 with no text? Any legal issue?

Can moderators, or someone else, tell me something?

Thanks in advance,
Carlos.

Hi Carlos,

We'd prefer (and I'm sure the publishers agree) that you do not put in any images scanned from any book.  It's a tricky situation and we'd prefer not to gain the attention of any author or publisher by reproducing their work on a public site.  Supposedly we can post up images from old books/articles, but to be safe it might be better not to.

Now if anyone's interested, what you could do is email said images via PM to whomever requests it, as long as it's not the whole book or you don't charge for it.

I recently asked someone at Air-Britain if they had any photos I could use for a model I'm planning on building and if I could post the photos on a forum for the other members to see.

I was told that he even though he had photos he couldn't help because of experiences with other people posting his photos without permission or not even been given credit for a photo when used and that because of this he doesn't help out that way anymore, and he specifically mentioned modellers as the main culprits.

There wasn't much I could say about it after that rebuke.
