I'm currently working on a lot of models inspired by the 30's Cold War thread and I've a couple of questions to do with Belgian and Dutch forces in the period.

Was the Belgian AF "The Royal Belgian AF" ? or did it not use the "Royal" ?

If the Dutch had had a carrier or two, can anyone suggest likely names. I've thought of The Marten Tromp, but any others ?  I know in the Anglo-Dutch Naval Wars the Dutch won the battle of Dungeness, but I've know idea if that would be spelt differently in Dutch ?

Were the Dutch East Indies forces a completely separate entity to the "home" based ones ?

Thanks in advance

during the first war and until the Belgian air force was knows as "Aeronautique Militair/Militair Vliegwezen" (Belgian Military Aviation)

more info about the Belgian air arm in the 30's can be found on this website

as for the dutch, i think there's was "Koningklijke Legerluchtvaart dienst" (Royal Army Aviation)

the Dutch/Belgian air force were only created in 1946, after they became independent from the army.

Looking at the names used for Dutch capital ships, 'de Ruyter', along with 'Tromp' and 'De Zeven Provinciƫn' are obvious choices. The fourth LCF is called 'Evertsen', I've no idea who that is.
The battle is called the 'Slag bij Dungeness' (at least, according to Wikipedia). Not sure about the East Indies forces.

What does "Slag" mean in Dutch?

I like the idea of Belgian Buffalos

Lots of room for manoevre there. Brilliant!

Slag is dutch for battle.

there were actually buffalos painted in Belgian markings for a pre-delivery flight, but they arrived to late as when they arrived, belgium had already fallen.

the germans confiscated the aircraft fresh of the baot, ant used them for tests, but they were later destroyed by a resistance group  B)

here's some pics i found

there also is a color photograph out on the web somewhere, ill post it later if i found it.

hmm i remember seeing photos of  some luftwaffe base with a few buffalo wrecks in the back ground....always wondered were they came from.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Now then, using those wrecks as pictures/references to convince certain people, I can do a Luftwaffe Buffalo on test for the Luftwaffe SIG at Telford.
Where do the horns go though?
And getting decals to settle on a furry hide will be a buggar
