Oh are those Spitfires great!    Perhaps they could be accompanied by all-white Mustangs from the Megiddo Air Cavalry?

Golden lion decals....available in any scale, anywhere?

Makes a Canuck wish he were British and a Brit happy to already be one!!!

Any ideas for top and bottom views?

Rad - how about taking the names of famous crusaders or famous battles during the crusades?  Acre FG.1?  Lionheart GR.2?  Obviously Geoffrey de Boullion B.1 doesn't work as well  :P

Great ideas for names, chaps. :D Thanks.

And I'm going to have to have a go at a version of that Spitfire, somehow, even if it means handpainting the big lion.....after all, the style has just got to be right, eh?
Just fabulous.....been working out how to do it....but I'll need to build a Spit and the Vb looks the business with the Vokes filter and big pointy spinner.

Oh so good.
The Airfix 1/48th kit is great, nice and smooth, builds easily and'll be fine.

Rad, try Historex Agents , Andrea do Heraldic tranfers in 54mm like this...

NARSES2

As well as Historex a lot of Wargames suppliers will do shield transfers in 28mm (roughly 1/72) which will help with this type of project

Please note the correct use of the word "Transfers"  :P

Golden Lions - I always thought they were Leoprads ?

Chris

Sheild Transfers
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Radish

Chris,

Originally they WERE Leopards, but somewhere along the line (or should that be lion?   ) the leopards were substituted by lions.

Decals....YES, I shall investigate further!

Should the pilots wear chain mail?

Fantastic side views.....I've been thinking of other distinctly English designs....dare I say the Hunter? Lightning?? SE5A? Gladiator??  :P    :P    :P

Great TRANSFERS boys.....I shall mull them over, all the various choices, and decide.

This thread will be really colourful!!!!

And much of the stuff (in my twisted universe) will cross over to the '30s thread.

I'm a happy bunny

just delved into my Osprey collection....it pays to be old and have been around a bit (not quite as round as Lancer though!) as I plucked from the shelf:

"The Crusades" and "The Knights Of Christ".....I think I bought them originally with a view to modelling armour/AFVs

To be fair, Lancer has lost a considerable amount of weight and is newly "slimline".
I think he's getting his energy imput via solar panels....well, solar dome anyway.

Started cutting up the Spitfire, Airfix 1/48th.
Once "cleaned up" from the flash/soft moulding, it looks OK.
And the interior....black, gunmetal, silver, etc.
Lid closed too.

What a belter.

Once assembled:

spray white
draw out lion/leopard on forward fuselage...outlined in pencil then painted around in red(having masked off the relevant panels.
Paint lion/leopard and other bits.

Undersurfaces in Azure Blue.
"Roundels"....filled in Portuguese.

Should be a cracker.

I can see others from:

Occidental Spitfire XVI, which makes a nice 4 x 0.5inch gunned P-53D Spitfire
Spitfire XII....made from the Hobbycraft Seafire XV, plus bits.

All the cutting out to a nice bit of heavy metal...Judas Priest "Rising In The East" DVD, an absolute MUST
