QuoteLatter on then goverment issue became more normal - the Burgundian Ordances for instance. So if the kinights and orders had continued into our time then I think equipment would be more standardised, not completely but more so.
We must remember it all had started almost 1000 years ago!

I don't think any family have enough money to send their sons on war for that long... :)[

At some point someone must have noticed that war is more and more expensive and there is less and less place for "private ventures". If you compare it with today's standards, tell me: How many people in Western Civilization can afford to buy i.e. second hand F-18 (with all the gadgets necessary!) and go on war?:)

On the other hand, there is much more people who can afford slower and cheaper subsonic fighters like Sabre, Mig-17, or even Mustang.

I think planes and other equipment must be either standardised or... inexpensive :)

The other problem to solve is: If every knight wants to be a pilot, who will buy and mount AA guns and rockets, electronic warfare toys, ships, etc.?

Radish

All done by the Orders.

The Knights signed up for the Orders, eg Teutonic Knights, gave up most of their wealth and were devoted to service. Most died in action anyway....or of disease, etc..
The Orders were extremely wealthy for a number of reasons, not least early banking and the gifts of land. Land (then as now) was wealth. Also power.

So, military Orders owned castles, and organised armies.
There we have it.

But let's not get bogged down in the detail...BUILD MODELS.

I shall bash out another Sesqui-SE5A tonight.

BUILD MODELS

There's a Leopard 1A4 (Tamiya 1/35th) nearly put together too.

Thinking of a Crusader Tornado as well, but NOT the Black Knight's as that has markings difficult for me to get in 1/48th.
My Tornado will be flying, and will belong to some other aristocratic flyer

Yea, Yea

My Lord "the King of Kings" wishes me to convey to "Sir Terry de Radish" his best wishes and to say that his personal champion shall await him on the field of the Midlands Air Museum on the 24th Sept inst.

I hope you've all noticed how "in your face" the so called civilised Sir Radish is compared to the quiet humility of My Lord The King Of King's representatives ?   :P

Possibly historically correct (in a small way) as well ?

And it's the quiet ones that normally let thier actions talk for them, normally lethally...

Bollocks

Just you wait, the Heavy Brigade are coming calling

I'll use 105mm instead of paint if you're not careful......ie, in the usual Crusader fashion, cheat when it suits
Machiavelli's middle name was "Radish" remember?
