The Heinkel He111 with its fantastic shape, especially thewing plan, is fantastic for whiffing.

A straight from the box "repaint" with the glazing in clear, "stained glass colours" gives a bomber of the Papal air force, or transport?

What else can be done?
Oh, by the way, to retain your sanity, ignore the Roden "early versions" they're bloody crap!

- Jet engines and swept wings, with the same (streamlined) fuselage...
- asymetric He-111 for King Tophe...
- FSW He-111
- Variations on the engines (push pull, four engine, pylon mounted, trimotor, auxiliary jets)
- glider
- flying bomb ala mistel
- canard (in Beech Starship or Piaggio Avanti style!)
- Autogyro or Tilt rotor (He-22 Horspreit :P )

King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Very radical.

I was thinking retro-He 111....fixed u/c of course, or floats or skis.
Radial engines?...no cowlings?

I quite agree, the He-111 is GREAT for whiffing. Here's a 1/144 scale version from Minicraft I whiffed into a 4-engine Swiss Air airliner. The nose was swiped from a P-38, the small rudders are from a Bf-110 and the front of the canopy is really part of a canopy from a B-10. The backstory is that the Swiss built a four engine version to get over the mountains and this aircraft was the first neutral aircraft to land in post-war Berlin with relief supplies and a Swiss diplomatic mission.

P.S. The decals were left over from a DC-3. I know the codes are wrong. I swiped the end of the H to make my version of fascist roundels.

Here's another one I bashed from a 1/144 He-111 (kind of). I call this the SM-300. The front fuse and wings are from an He-111 and the rear fuse and tail are from a Ju-88. The front of the engines on the wings are from the Ju-88 and the front of the fuse engine is from an Avenger. You can see how I cobbled together my "generic" version of Reggia Aeronautica roundels.

Bee-D-Bee-D-Beep.........is there anything you haven't built, Buck ?

;)

I'd like to see a somewhat longer, sleeker variant with a longer nose as well. Maybe retain the all-glass cockpit, or something more traditional.

Monogram's He-111 in 1/48 from Ye Olde Collection is set to serve as a post-war press plane for the Tour d'Europe Air Race.   Upper turret to utilise a mount-stabilised 70mm movie camera for air-to-air footage as is the lower turret.   The bombay area converted to seat journalists from the press including radio equipment for play-by-play.

Color scheme to be quite simple:  NMF overall with a black tail empennage featuring thin white stripes (think horiz. stabs on a Val except all in line) and some black/white trim on the main wing tips.

But then again, perhaps Sir Branson needs a He-111 to carry his Virgin markings???

Of course engine supply was quite abundant..................

Given the streamlined appearance of the basic fuselage, how about a stretched fuselage mated with four powerful engines as an analog to Republic's XFR-12 Rainbow?

Maybe a Japanese one - sent over for evaluation much like the Bf-109 was.

IJA of course as the IJN wouldn't want anything to do with such a limited range aircraft. :ar:
Manchouku Air Force anyone?

Then of course there is the radial engined He 111A used by a Chinese outfit...howabout BMW 801s on an H model?

Cheers, Jon

That He 119 is just lovely.

Brian de Basha's creations are wonderful as ever....food for thought.

The Italeri 1/72nd He 111 is excellent value....as is the Revell version of the Hasegawa kit.
Lots to go at :P

The Italeri kit is very good.

The photo, by the way, is of a Chinese Heinkel.

But a great idea....looking good.

I can introduce RIGGING to the airframe too.

(Actually, what would a "rigged" B-17 look like?)

Jon,

Is that photo of the He-119V5 real?  Have to ask these days with the clever modelling/photoshopping folk around.

Greg
