How about something  different, VF(AW)-3 assigned to NORAD?  Use the markings of their F4D-1s as a starting place.

Now I'm thinking VF-1 Wolfpak.  IMHO, nothing says F-14 like those markings. So if the a/c didn't exist but the markings did, it will connect the dots for anyone looking at the model and not recognizing it as a "different" F-14.

Sundowners or Wolfpack would look good.  All that red on the white/grey body really stands out well, IMHO.
