With the attention being paid to the poster concept, I thought I'd give my fellow whiffers a taste of a WI publishing project that'll be appearing soon:

The Zwilling Lib was not an official Consolidated project - but isn't it _neat_?

QuoteBeen there, done that, got the books on the shelf to prove it.

And quite a few of the people on this board have read them.

I'm trying to gather some infor to get a what if modeling book together for those folks at Osprey. I was informed by a fellow that they don't really cotton to manuscripts without prior approval, so I'm sorta in a holding pattern.

Intertesting idea Chris having seen some of the drawing they used for patents, should be an interesting book when its published.

I'd be more then interested in a book like that

Chris
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I'm in. Archibald will have built everything in BSP by Christmas so he'll probably want one too!  :D

Me too, me too, I'll have a copy, whats the expected publication date?

Certainly an interesting project as these things are notoriously difficult to research. But then some gems do get out of the closet from time to time : yesterday I just found a "mistel type" Coleopter patent from 1960 ! For possible use if my own projected article on the Coléoptère does comes out.

I'd like a copy too. I'm a big reader, so more aviation material (especially of the Whif kind) would be greatly appreiated.

I'd like to purchase a copy.  My library needs new additions.

Hi Gang:

First off, many thanks for the enthusiasm re this project - it helped greatly during the prepress work of the past few days, when Murphy's Law began applying itself in force. The book per se is actually done, with the "guts" of it at the printer. At some point I'll be getting back a preproduction copy, and as these things go, the cover will probably come back upside down or something along that line ;-) meaning some more fine-tuning.

So, we're still looking at a matter of weeks. BUT, if you're not wedded to the concept of a printed book and just want the info, I'll be shortly in a position to sell a pdf version on CD. The printed version will be going for around $19.99 + s/h; figure $9.99 + s/h for the CD - sort of a discount for the "in crowd". Plus, I'll include some bonus WIF material on every disc...

Just under 200 pages in length, with coverage from the late 1930s to the present day.

Thanks much

Chris

Chris,

What was the rational behind the Segmented VG Wing?

All hail the God of Frustration!!!

Greg:

As I recall (and the patent was more of a mechanical explanation) that would be a try at a mission adaptive wing.

As for progress, the "preproduction" book has shipped today, and I'm anticipating it by the weekend. As I said, I'm anticipating revisions needing to be made - I'll keep y'all informed of the progress.
