Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Thanks for the heads up. I have managed to bag the 04317 kit, which is a single seater, the 2 seater could yet be used as a fleet air arm bird yet, maybe as a dedicated electronic warfare version.
V/STOL version would be cool 😎

Could a conventional fighter jet jet fighter successfully take off using the ski jump if it started its run up right at the very back of the ship and the pilot really really gunned it?
What if they dug out a load of old RATO packs from the back of a hanger deck?

Yeah, that'll do it.

I could have gotten you a whole wagon load two days ago. We were at the Buffalo roundup in South Dakota.

If a super hornet can do it, a typhoon should be able to.

A ski jump on my wiff HMS colossus would work, as the 5th gen, Osprey FGR 1's also serving are designed to be STOL, with maximum combat load.

I'd considered such a model as part of my "Trump Effect" collection. I'd surmised the RAF and, RN getting utterly sick of the F-35s failures and, cancelling any further orders.

Instead of Typhoon (my original thoughts) though, I'm going to use Hasegawa's excellent 1/72 ASF-X Shinden (which includes a naval option). A "whif" for a " whif" 😉😂.
I'm going to build one in Canadian markings and, one in Spanish.

My Osprey FGR 1 that is awaiting decals is the ASX - F kit by Hasegawa, so  if you build a Canadian navy one, it would serve aboard the Canadian sister ship to HMS Collosus. A joint UK, Canada and Japanese project.

Interesting. I hadn't really considered a naval option for Canada. I was thinking purely along the lines of an F-35 replacement😊! Still, that's not a bad idea.
Given the previous flip flopping over Britain's hapless carriers and, the propensity of national leaders to flip flop almost on a whim, I'd suggest that we might actually end up with two proper carriers with proper aircraft requiring proper catapults etc 😉😂
