Yes, they need an occasional reassurance... opening the box, fondling plastic and re-reading construction notes/build articles/conversion ideas.

Ah but surely that gets their hopes up and crushes their spirit when the latest "Ooo shiny." model turns up?

It's like Woody dealing with Buzz Lightyear.

At least it lets them know they've not been forgotten.

No modelling done today, but various utilities bills and the like cancelled so I don't have to worry about that cash flowing out on a monthly basis. Except for Thames Water who cannot find their backside with both hands and that's putting it mildly. They deal with the houses waste water which, they claim, is metered. It isn't. So all bills have to be estimated on what my water supplier (Leep utilities) tell them. Somehow, and for the life of me I cannot work out even remotely how, they claim that in two years, this mostly empty house has produced 99 cubic metres of wastewater, this is despite Leep telling them and me that my metered supply was only 14 in the same time. One can clearly tell that going off script in this way has totally perplexed them as they kept coming out with the standard waffle of "understanding" what I was saying and then repeating the nonsense about waiting to hear from Leep for the latest bill correction. :banghead:  Neither my Dad, daughter or myself have the abilities to conjure 85 cubic metres of water out of the air and if we did, we'd receive more praise than when Jesus turned the water into wine at Cana. Exhausting does not cover it.

Allegedly a "manager" will be calling me to explain it all, though I suspect it will be another lesson in how to fail completely at listening to your customer once again. Can't say it's surprising that the company is so far up the swanny as to be threatened with a government takeover.

And the Corporate Arrogance of 'We know far better what's going on, what You need to do is Pay Up!'

Maybe threaten them with your Local MP?

It's only the first round as it wasn't until yesterday I realised the discrepancy. Suffice to say, many years of dealing with arrogant medical staff and obstinate patients will be put to good use during this 😁

I've had some "interesting" discussions with Thames about their humungous increase in standing charges that appeared on the 2025 Bill  :banghead:

So after receiving a phone call from the manager of the individuals I dealt with yesterday, the final bill has come down to £15. He said he'd take my "claim of only 14 cubic metres over two years as true" to which I reminded him he already had the proof of that sent to the firm yesterday. Again, a slightly perplexed response from him followed but he promised an itemised breakdown of the last two years will be sent to me within the next 24 hours. Considering standing charges over the last few years have increased from each time this final payment sounds a lot more reasonable, though I will still be checking.

No modelling again, but with the roofers causing all sorts of grit and dust to come in any open window plus the fact they're tramping past my room every few seconds that's not really a surprise. Once they've finished this side of the house I plan on doing more, though any spraying may have to wait until they're done so my usual nook is not disturbed whilst things dry.
