I'm in the Chicken's camp.

If someone wants to take an idea from my periodic random scratchings (soon to number 2), they're more than welcome. I'd be glad to see someone even try to realise some of the products of my fevered mind, although it might not always be pretty.

My feeling is that if anybody wants to build one of my ideas then go for it, just ask me first. If I get inspiration from someone else here, I'll ask if it's ok to use the idea and sdo something with it.
Besides, even if two people do build the same idea, there will be still be enough differences for them to be pretty unique.

I wouldn't be here at all if it wasn't for my good friend DORK.

I have said on many occassions, here on these pages, that I happily stole (and developed) his Eurovision Wars idea.

But because this is a hobby, and because this hobby is SUPPOSED to be fun, then I will cheerfully line-up with the others here who have expressed the opinion that they will build anything they like simply because it pleases them.

There is more than enough room in the hobby for Whiffers and Non-Whiffers and you can guarantee that if more than one builder chose to build the the exact same subject from the same kit in the same markings - we would see definite variations and 'personality traits' in the finished article - thank G*d !

I have something further to add:

I have a friend here in PE who's just started his own decal co. mainly for SA modelers and he's released his first SAAF cookie cutter sheet (current roundel) and is itching for custome work with that in mind I want to take some model pics from here as well as some select profiles of what I want to build in my portfolio for him to design markings, numbers and decals for my consumption with me retaining the artwork onece done (not that its a worry as whiffing is totally up to poo-poo here in SA)...so essentially I'll be borrowing various ideas from here to spring board his designs for me. And of course I'll contact all those whose work is involved and give them credit because at the end of the day I have a limited budget with A TON of whiff ideas (including a US Sea Fury anthology inspired by Jennings USN Sea Fury in dark sea blue) this is the best way for me to get to my goals without breaking the bank.

Damian, would your friend be interested in trying his hand at the Boeing Demo Harriers that Nils and I did for the Harrier SIG?  I'll be glad to share the info I have there.  I'd be interested in both 1/48 and 1/72 sheets.

I'll pm you his e-mail addy :) Just tell him I told you about him but I don't see a massive problem with it. He's still learning all the tricks and tools but drop him a line and see what he says!

For my input-I have no issues at all.  Copy and be copied.  It's all good!  Hell if it wasn't for 'stealing' ideas I wouldn't be here.  You guys are WAY more creative than me!

I'm of the mind of "steal away". As others have said, I'm never going to get to all the ideas I've come up with, and it pleases me to see them come about even when I didn't get the full satisfaction of building it myself.

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

I'm more than itching to try out a couple ideas I've seen others post. It's fun to see how different people would interpret the same concept. I still would ask first, but that's just me.

Oh yeah, anyone who's seen a build I've done is more than free to try on their own(and probably come up with something cooler or better executed), just give me a little credit or mention.

And everything I've posted in this here thread is fair game for anyone to try.

I'm always freaked out when someone else expresses an idea I happen to already have in my ever-growing spreadsheet of "to do's"  (which I'd post on here but I don't know how to format an Excel sheet to a website).

It throws me off 'cause I always consider myself to be so completely, comfortably warped and, yet, here comes another independent thinker who has also dreamt up the same idea.

As for anyone building from one of my own ideas, they're more than welcome to it: would be nice to see one of them completed for once, eh?!
