Class 37 bogies are very similar to Class 55s, and the traction motors are good for 150 mph. We used them on the APT-E, albeit with pressure lubricated bearings and re-geared of course.

Hornby has released the all metal and Bluetooth English Electric DP1 Deltic in 00 gauge with DCC sound and lighting, detailed cabs with the lit Mars headlight , prices are £404.99 plus. The fans are supposed to rotate, red underframe with cream piping on baby blue.
There's a second version without the DCC sound but you don't get the Bluetooth only the 21 pin socket plus the DCC- ready Deltic  features  which will starting around the £349.99price bracket. There's the poverty spec edition also DCC-ready but with no red underframe paint and limited features which will be released during the summer TBC.
From the videos on YouTube ( dusty_shelf_collectables)  the locomotive looks very impressive with all the details popping and realistic sound.

HOW MUCH???   :o

That really is a LOT of money for an OO gauge loco!

Mmmm yes and no. Prices have gone nuts compared to the traditional UK prices, but for continental models it's not. It's also worth noting that this Deltic is all diecast as opposed to plastic body with a diecast chassis.

I've got one of the Bachman ones that was done in conjunction with the NRM, but even that's now north of £200 new  :banghead:

Ever since the running plate or the bodyshell has been made from metal the price has increased, of course other makers will be releasing their own versions not all with sound and lights.

The second Dapol/Kitmaster DP1 Deltic painted body laid on top of the Lima ho Class 55, red paint is drying so I've just put it on the running plate.

An update on the progress. One end is a representation of the DP1 Deltic whilst the other
end is more like the Class 55.
The roof will remain the same as the Class 55..
