Thanks Zen, but I'm a Yank, and a relatively poor one at that, lol. My kids come first before my hobbies.

You get all my respect, brother. I'd do the same i had my own to take care of. This is just plastic to play.

If the Fates are kind, I should have some spending money here soon, if I get some of my surplus minis sold. :D

Looking back at my older Viper builds because of HarryPhishnuts' Sea Viper and noticed i never got around to posting some better photos i took of them last year so here they are...

Was supposed to finish a pair of 600 gal drop tanks but that got sidelined by other stuff... i still have some of the paint i mixed for this so i should get it done...
Anyway, hope you guys enjoy these new pics, there's nothing in the background distracting from the model unlike in the old pics.

You lucky so and so getting hold of a Hasegawa F-16E in 1/72. I am going to be converting an earlier version into an E. It could get interesting with the contour of the fin base. I do have a 1/48 to use as a guide though. Yet another of my "Projects" that may never get past the planning and material gathering stage.

You can say that again, i managed to buy two of them and one in 1/48th...  ;D
I understand your frustration perfectly, Alastair. I spent way too much time looking for them everywhere and i really mean everywhere on the web, every listing on google, ebay, you name it... all the online stores that still had them listed. I think it took me at least 6 months to find the first one in Australia and then the other one in Canada just a few months later. The 1/48th kit came from a private seller from Japan. And i can tell you they weren't the cheapest kits ever... all that to avoid the conversion work, which i actually had already started on a normal C fin before i got these kits...
If only Hasegawa had kept both 1/72 F-16E/F kits available like the SUFA... I wonder why they do this with those limited editions like these two and others like the F-15EX? :banghead:
I had the same issue when i found out they did the F-16A ADF, which is one of the two variants used by the PoAF and has the fin base with the bulges on the sides. Luckily i found some aftermarket resin conversion sets and bought the Hasegawa kit that has the correct fin for the ADF variant and although they've released it in a few different editions so far, those were also limited edition kits.
They had the 1/48th F-16E/F/I, the E and I were limited edition and the only one of those 3 still available as a regular product is the F... Still, not much of a problem when Kinetic has been doing all 3 variants in this scale.
I've already used both 1/72 F-16E kits on this build and on my second F-16W but i saved the specific F-16E parts from one of the kits to use on a Tamiya F-16CJ and build a Tamigawa F-16E... ;D

I managed to get the Hasegawa F in both 72 and 48. Also like you I would like to get hold of the ADF version, but as you say, only a few short runs and that's it. They are no help at all. And some people wonder why I buy so many kits, you got to get them when you can at times.

Wow! I like the F-16W too, but this, being closer to reality, is way more up my alley. Very, VERY good indeed!

Indeed, i became aware of that ever since i first saw the Monogram 1/72 F-16XL kit and quickly found out it's OOP and very hard for me to buy one at a reasonable price... Lucky again there as i managed to buy a couple of them.

Glad you like it, my friend!
I also like to keep a bit of reality in my whiffs and yes, this is much closer to what could've been a real Viper on steroids... ;D  But still, this would've been an F-16E with F-2 flight surfaces, plus the DSI, P&W F135 engine and LOAN from the F-35, all stuff that was tested on the Viper in reality so, if someone paid for it, i believe that it could easily be done.
The only thing i want to do different when i build this in 1/48 is to use the F-2's fuselage because of the stretched airframe but with the F-16's canopy because i don't like the F-2's split canopy.

That HAVE GLASS paint would look good on the Super Viper I want to build. An F-16XL with all the extras from the Sufa kit in 1/72. Is the HAVE GLASS paint the same color top and bottom?

It's the same color on the whole aircraft, Ken. I mixed my own paint from Tamiya XF-24 and-16, 75% - 25% respectively. I do want prefer other metallic colors for mixing and there are quite a few brands making the HG paint so it should be easier to get a better match.
