Su-34MKI - at long last!

This has been project that is a long time coming. It's the Italeri Su-34, with what-if Indian Air Force markings. I just didn't want to do it as-is, so I've been slowly putting the pieces together:

First, the kit:

Next, the bits. Photoetch bits to start. I've got some wingtip Khibiny pods from a Trumpeter Su-30 I'll be adding. The decals were slightly wetted when my basement flooded in 2019, I did a test and while the decals didn't slide off, it did lift off. I do have an extra set coming in though. I'll be adding other bits like extra bumps and antennas.

Finally, the pièce de résistance! I finally found a guy who 3D printed a Brahmos for me, with pylon. Unfortunately the pylon attachment bits are quite fragile and a little broke off. I'll cross that bridge later.

Currently, the photoetch is soaking overnight in some vinegar to etch them a bit. The cockpit detailing is getting scraped off in preparation for the PE.

Interestingly, this is the 4th time I've built this. My first attempt was in 1996 or so when the kit first came out, and I accidentally ruined the nose by putting too much Testor's white putty to secure the weight, which melted it. 2nd attempt was the prototype build, which took me 4 years to build as I had issue with matching the paint. 3rd build was my what-if PLAAF model, which has mysteriously disappeared. Admittedly, I love this kit.

Etching PE in vinegar's not something I've heard of before, could be a handy trick. Thanks Tom.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

Gondor

Sounds interesting. Nice find on the Brahmos.

Vinegar can be quite useful for lots of things, other than putting on your chips. Smell can linger though
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Might not want to soak it in vinegar too long, though. It started to turn green! I'd say no more than 6 hours.
