The lurgy is a simple rhinovirus, so the most common form of "cold" bug. Doc has given me a few days off work, so I don't spread the love.
No need to apologise to  "connoisseurs" about your preferred tipple.  Drink it as you see fit, and remember the words of the master distiller at Oban Distillery when asked if it was permitted to add mixers to his wonderful single malt..... "Sir, I don't care what you add.  Pee in it if it pleases you, so long as you keep buying the stuff!"

I live in Herefordshire so I too appreciate good cider.  As to wines, there's a lot of good reds coming out of Chile at the moment..

Much sympathy regarding the virus,  get well soon enough to feel better but slowly enough to enjoy being looked after.

Given the thousands of types out there is it an allergy to hops or something similar ? I've always been a bitter drinker, hand-pump and preferably under 4.2%, I'm getting old , and most of the pubs/clubs I visit offer at least 3 of those plus 20 or so kegs, lagers and ciders  :cheers:

When dining it's normaly a red, although my "lady" is a white wine drinker. Pinot-Grigio anybody ?

Madame Rheged suggests that your companion might enjoy  Chapel Down Bacchus,  from Tenterden in Kent.   Possibly a little too pricy for everyday drinking, but as a treat...................

My current preferred cider is Henry Weston's Special Vintage Reserve Apple Cider produced & bottled in Herefordshire. Nice flavour. Kicks like a mule!

Nope, just don't like the stuff, never developed a taste for it.

It's interesting that they use the label "apple cider" nowadays. When I was a nipper cider was made from apples, there was now't else branded as cider. I was stunned the other week at a friends 70th when his grandaughter explained to me just how many different fruit ciders there are out there. She works part time as a barmaid whilst at Uni.

I won't say "I bet I could", but I'd probably be able to introduce you to tastes that you wouldn't normaly associate with beer, especially those brews that seem to proliferate in the rest of the world when us Brits have seen a revival in decent bitters over the last few years  :thumbsup: Always found there's a huge difference between hand pump  :thumbsup:  and keg types as well.

The news of Phill's death has really knocked me for six, tonight.

We bonded over our shared appreciation of armour but I re-introduced him to aircraft with a 1/48 Monogram SB2C Helldiver kit (which I included in an aid package I sent him shortly after he returned to the site), which he turned into this brilliant piece of insanity;

Absolutely, what a loss to the whole of this modelling genre.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)
