Yeah, I tried a few printed ones when I was a kid, a SR-71 & a Chieftan Tank.  I managed both of them, but I wouldn't say I did a good job of either.  It's more intricate than I thought, getting curves can be a problem & using the right amount of glue to stick the thing together without turning the card to mush, then trying not to get glue on every surface other than the one your sticking.

There's good ones here & a ice variety, including a load of X-Planes, although you have to pay for these (but very little).  Might try one when I have some spare time.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Yes, They are difficult to make.
I really have a great admiration and respect not only to cardmodelers, of wich there are real masters who put my works to shame, but of the designers, who make the unfolding/folding act of creating a model ready for assembly.

I'm not one of those modelers. My approach is and has always been to analyze and do things the easier way possible (In a past life, I was a Systems Analyst for 20+ years), and if there is something I hate is to do things the hard way (at least for fun).

So I scratchbuild with cardboard (Cardboard, Yum!!!) because is cheap, comes from an abundant supply, and can be printed as much as you need it. The "secret" to my scratchbuilding is the KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) approach, wich renders good results, if you're not trying to achieve superdetailed models. And it involves much study in the opposite way of designers. Take, for example the LAVs Gervasius liked so much. There is a Czheck model that is perfection embodied, but I don't have the time, nor the patience to do it, So I went and downloaded some profiles and dismembered them in pieces easy to glue together and, Voilá, there's your APC!!!

So much fun, I can't describe it!!

Thanks
Rafa

Standing in line at the local hobby store today, I glanced over and saw a rack of origami kits.

Got dizzy just thinking about them.

You card-modelers impress the heck out of me!
Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

The UK Card Modellers always have a stand at the Milton Keynes show and I must admit to being tempted in the past - well this year I have taken the plunge and ordered a Russian pre-Dreadnaught warship. Should be fun

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
