I'm looking for more info on this mode 18 l! Is a prototype or F-16 A? Did it fly or is it a Photo editing ?

I would say photo of a company model put on a Sky background. I don't remember seeing any mockup of F-16 with Sparrows on the wingtips.

And you can always go to Secret Projects if an answer does not come up here.

That's probably just photo editing, the F-16 test birds never used Sparrows on the wingtips, neither did they test the intake missile pylon setup. And the US Navy was never interested on the F-16 because of the one engine issue, weak landing gear and because they figured that the nozzle would be hit on the carrier deck very frequently. Besides, back then they were always in competition with the USAF and would never want an army or air force plane.

And with that belly intake it'd be a total disaster in a ditching situation, it'd submerge faster than a Los Angeles class submarine crash diving!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

It would probably flip the moment the intake lip touched the water!

That's why they use ejector seats in the jet age Kit  ;D, Crusader & Corsair both had Chin intakes and the Navalised F-16 was a very valid project, loosing out to Hornet.

The model 18 was an early Navalised F-16 before Vought got involved to truly configure it for Naval operations as the Vought V-1600 and V-1601

Thanks..

There was the project of the chance vought 1600 and the sinking would have no more problem than the A7 Corsair ! But had already a train before jumper ?

I would think that the catapult hook up crews would have hated that intake- much more close to the nose strut than even the A-7 or F-8.  A real attention getter!

I also wonder if steam ingestion would have been a worry.

My project is moving forward. I'm looking for a front landing gear from the A7 Corsair. "If you have that in your boxes!"
