Coincidentally at around the same time the Banshee entered RAN service. ;D

Wiki gives no dates but lists them being fitted to Hunters, Lightnings and A-26s amongst others.

we had a thread running on this sometime ago   ;)

Just got to stick on the SNEBs and canopy and then take pics.

McDonnell Douglas Banshee – RAN: HMAS Melbourne 1956.

What if the Royal Australian Navy replaced the Sea Fury with the McDonnell Douglas Banshee?
There is a precedent for this as it was the course followed by the Royal Canadian Navy.
In reality RAN Sea Furys were replaced with Sea Venoms which were in turn replaced with Skyhawks.

The Model - Hobbycraft McDonnell Douglas F2H-3 Banshee built box stock with SNEB pods from Airfix Harrier GR3.
Paint is Vallejo Acrylic (scheme based on that of a Warbird Sea Fury) and decals are a combination of purchased generic 'roos and home made.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Ya, that's a very good looking Banshee! Good work on the scheme!

That looks SO good Fred, the Banshee really looks the business in EDSG and Sky, and from side view it's awesome. A super job.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Thanks folks.
Topside is Vallejo Dark Sea Grey with a drop of Azure in it.  I was trying to get a similar shade to that in this picture which I suspect has been "adjusted" but which I think looks great.
