QuoteGreat post Gekko 1.
Thanks Jack! :)

Well, to tell the truth, I like both the ways of looking at the wiffery. The paint schemes require a different kind of effort than the modified versions, which I like very much as well. That being said, for a lot of guys, like me, the 104 in someone elses clothing is an easy to complete and satisfying model. The dual engined or shortened starfighters are a heck of a lot more challenging and again in my case, not as likely to be finished in this century. That being said, the finished results of these are spectacular.

Both are different approaches to the wiff, but neither are incorrect. The biggest trick for me is taking on something I can finish building in a reasonable timeframe.

I love the green on in 92 Sqn markings.  When I built my RAF Starfighter last week I very nearly went with that scheme (green over NMF), same as the RAF Lightnings in RAF Germany in the 70s.

Now I cant wait to find another cheap F-104 so I can try to cobble together a "Starhawk".  That thing looks awesome!
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Beautiful work Mr. Gekko!   B)   Any chance that you'll be adding them to your line of What-ifs???  Same question on the RNZAF & RAAF Starfighters and Africanized MiG-19's...  B)

As I've said before, I don't particularly like the Satrfighter, but they DO look good in RAF markings. Especially the 92sqn green.

QuoteWell, that does it: off to get a bigger Hard Drive on which to save all these great ideas for future possibilities, thanks to Richard!   :D

Julhelm, why don't YOU add the stuff you mention?  You have the capability.
You asked for it, biatch.

I present you the FB-104 Spearhead:
Gorgeous piece of work, but you will need to enlarge the intakes so that one side can feed an engine (think of it as putting 1/48 inlets on a 1/72 kit, the flow rates scale pretty close - compare a Mirage III with a Mirage IV).

Oops, missed this thread!

For such a naff plane, the F-104 sure looks great, especially in those Lightning schemes!
